Dzeko (Merged)

Re: Dzeko

Don't think he's suited to playing in a lone striker role, and don't think he's going to work playing up front with Tevez,so a bit confused as to if he's going to be a key player for us in the future.Got to be frustrating though, being a 6'4 inch striker and getting no crosses delivered in the air.

Apart from one header yesterday,i can't remember him getting on the end of any decent balls in the air.

Re: Dzeko

1) Previous post by Zmajuga: spot on. Right now expectations around Edin (due to the amount of money paid for him) are severely affecting his play. He is trying to do too much rather than being instinctive. His fear of not meeting expectations affected his confidence, and his play overall. Ironically enough - I think he will start to shine once everyone marks him as a 'bust' :-) as expectations will be down, and pressure will be down.
This I believe is part of the problem. But only part of it.
2) 'change in team's style of play' = overrated on this thread. It's really not as hard as you're making it out to be. Put in some wingers and it comes natural after few training sessions, and same goes for formation shift - these are professional players ffs.
Just wrong. Changing the entire set up of a team (which is what would happen, as the midfielders and fullbacks would have different roles with orthadox wingers) would lead to confusion. Had we made the change in style of play when we bought him, we might be reaping the reward now, but if we change now it'll cost us more points than it gains us.
3) Dzeko cannot create for himself = rubbish. Please watch some of his career goals again - the kid can create for himself, his problem is number 1) above.
He created some of the goals for himself. He is above average at that I'd say.

But he is outstanding at getting on the end of crosses. That's why he is worth the money we paid for him, because he converts chances into goals.
I feel bad for the lad because it must be hard to come in to the Prem with SUCH HIGH EXPECTATIONS and HIGH PRESSURE right off the bat...that must suck. If City bought him over the summer he'd be kicking ass and taking names by now. You'll see next season.

I'll be there to say 'I told you so'.
Hopefully.
