Dzeko to Chelsea

What's so bad about selling to a rival? especially when its done to strengthen and in knowledge said player isn't all that. You wouldn't sell kolarov/garcia to Chelsea either?

Dzeko is a proven goalscorer, especially in the right team and therefore has far more potential to make a big impact elsewhere.

You think he'd severely outscore ba or torres? You think he brings more to the table than either of them? I honestly don't, so in my eyes It's a no brainer. At the end of the day It's all hypothetical & very unlikely so on other matters navas yesterday fernandinho today who you suppose we get tomorrow evening? :)

25/30 goals imo in the right team, whether that's Chelsea who knows.

He's a talent and I like him, prefer to sell him to a team that we'll likely won't play than one we will twice.

Intriguing story. Did someone suggest Chelsea might be playing games, using Dzeko as a stalking horse for Cavani? Doesn't make sense to me - you can only play that game when you are clearly ahead in the bidding. Because we are presumably equal in the running, I read it the other way around - Napoli want Dzeko and we drop this story to give them the hurry up.

Cos I just don't believe it. Special Man uses lone strikers in a specific way - Drog was charged with keeping all four defenders busy. Benzema is an accomplished link player who made space for Ronaldo, Ozil, etc. Dzeko has shown precious little ability at either task, in this league, anyway. It's just too hectic, too much pressure, you can't learn how to hold the ball up this late in life, against defenders who have been nudging the striker on those long balls, since they were five. He would thrive in Italy, however, where defences hold their shape more. and he would be THE main man at Napoli, which is his psychological niche.

This. I think Chelsea are playing our bluff and City need to ignore it, does anybody think we would sell to a rival? I don't.

This all makes sense to me too. Chelsea could easily have leaked this news to the media/bookies, hence the implosion of Dezeko's odds, somewhat 'out of the blue' (sorry!!).

would be silly to sell to a rival.

Yes. How the hell do you sell a 27 million pound player to a Rival?
Imagine if we had sold Robinho to United or Chelsea, how about Balotelli?
I'm not saying don't sell. I'm just saying don't sell to Chelsea or Nited.
I'll be happy to bet that this will never happen.

What we paid is a sunk cost. He no longer is a 27 million pound player. He is a 20 million pound player and if Chelsea end up spending only 20 million on the striker they sign this summer then we are lucky.

-- Tue Jun 04, 2013 10:51 pm --

Re: Dzeko to Chelsea

It's interesting in every conversation about Dzeko, it always devolves into his fans doing their best to imply without outright stating two things. First, that Mancini was some sort of maniac for resting him for one game in the middle of multiple international and league fixtures. God help someone so fragile if he's put in a Mourinho squad. Second, that he dragged us to second place despite a maniac of a manager along with a general sentiment that several squad players have a personal vendetta against him, which in reality it's likely that they didn't trust his inconsistent first touch.

Let's just say I disagree with the assessment that the only reason we finished second was through the Herculean efforts of Dzeko.

Finally someone with some sense. He's turned into the worlds greatest striker overnight. Have people just forgot about that spurs game where he was an absolute disgrace. He doesn't care about city no more.

Love the way everyone slaughters Dzeko for playing awful and not even trying towards the end of the season, scream out for us to buy Cavani in place of him...

.....then five minutes later, Chelsea want Dzeko and all of a sudden we'd be mad to sell him to them!!

Is he gonna play much for us? Probably not.
Is he on 150k odd a week? For sure.
Can we really have a strikeforce consisting of Cavani, Dzeko, Aguero and Tevez? No chance.
Something has to give? You bet.
Would we get decent money from Chelsea? I expect so.

Sometimes you have to take a punt. He might do well there, he might not. But I doubt very much he is going to play for us much, so we can't just hoard players for the sake of it, just to stop other teams getting them.

Re: Dzeko to Chelsea

I would let Dzeko go to Chelsea for £10-15m with the real gem Lukaku coming the other way.

We'd be crazy to sell dzeko to another prem side.mark my words that lad can play. With a new manager and a new system he will flourish. If we need to bargain with Napoli to get Cavan then maybe, if not we should keep him.

Would be a great deal for us.
Thus it won't happen.

Dzeko would come alive in Chelsea's system.

No thanks.

wtf, is that you my friend? I think it is better to buy Edison and sell Edin so we realize how much impact Edin made while playing here. I hope we buy wingers (Navas plus xxxx) and additional MCs to replace Yaya while at ACON and Nasri or Silva when they are tired or injured.
ACON is every 4 years right?

ACON is every 2 years. Next one will take place in 2015.

Re: Dzeko to Chelsea

I'd actually be delighted with Dzeko. I know he's been a bit of a disappointment for you, but to be fair City's system under Mancini didn't maximise his ability at all and he still had a good goal return for you. He wouldn't stifle Lukaku's development either and seems happy enough to come off the bench.

Re: Dzeko to Chelsea

If Dzeko does move then I can see him going somewhere where he'll be number 1 and playing week in week out. I cant imagine after last season he would want to be parked on another big teams bench. With a change of approach and a team built around his style when he plays, Edin could bag us 20+ goals im sure.

At Chelsea he would be our first choice provided we don't get anyone else. Shipping Torres and going with Dzeko, Ba and Lukaku would be great for us. As crazy as that sounds I'd rather that than spending 50m+ on Cavani and his wages who would start every game without giving Lukaku a look in. He wouldn't have Aguero or Tevez to contend with here.

Funny that outsiders see what a lot on here dont...To sell Dzeko to you would be madness..pure madness.

If it clears the way for Cavani though?

I still think he will stay and utilised correctly, will be a far better player for us going forward and that Tevez is the one out of the door.
