Get over yourselves. Christmas is brilliant :-)
I've been out for new decorations today. Can't wait to put them up.

We will be around your place with our pitchforks & flaming torches ;-)

You'd be very welcome. I'll have the mulled wine ready and the Christmas cd on :-)

I love it when people go on about how "christmas is too commercial" etc like they are fucking Noam Chomsky or something. They always say it with a smug look on their face too like they are the only person on earth who has come to this amazing conclusion. You aren't some kind of genius political commentator for working that out you plank, now get me a mince pie and shut the fuck up

Christmas is too commercial.

Christmas is too commercial.

Well with the exception of every fucking perfume and aftershave, every fucking boybands CD,every fucking celebrity keep fit cd,all the sodding supermarkets and Toys R us being advertised
with every city and country under the sun being touted as holiday destinations, I really don't understand what you are getting at..........

And why does Santa wear red?

Coca fucking cola.

Christmas really is too commercialised.

Not true, they hijacked an old tradition

Santa Clause is an amalgam figure based on numerous Nordic myths, it is thought the red costume represents fly agaric a mushroom that was used as a hallucinatory drug in Shamanism in that part of the world, it was brought to the US by Scandinavian immigrants

As an atheist I'm offended by this thread. We're not all Christians you know. My tree will not go up until the last minute.

There are many traditions.

However, the red and white Father Christnas that bwe know and love today was a marketing ploy by Coca Cola.

They may have hijacked ealrier traditions but fact remains that the popularisation of the now ubiquitious Father Christmas figure is through the commercial marketing of Coca Cola.

Well;if you're an atheist, you shouldn't be putting up a tree or even celebrating Christmas. That would be hypocritical. Furthermore, I therefore presume you're going to be working over the festive period as you won't be celebrating in the traditional manner?

There was a festive period at this time of year long before the Christians hijacked it.
