As far as I know the NHS staff who are going are volunteers the army staff going are under orders. I heard an interview with one of them who said she really wasn't happy at having to go but eventually was convinced that it was ok and there was little or no danger to her own health so now is ok with it. She certainly didn't sound like she had volunteered.
Didn't know NHS staff were going thought it was Forces personnel only, the consequences of a NHS person getting infected and being back on the wards eventually is frightening, but I suppose they will all be screened before that happens.....hopefully

Apparently 400 NHS staff have volunteered to go over. As I said yesterday, the idea fof 400 NHS staff going over for a few weeks then coming back and being let loose in wards over here is terrifying. I suppose you have to trust those making the decisions to know what they are doing and to not be complacent at any point.
400!!! thought we were short of Doctors and Nurses, theres going to be some grumbling in hospital waiting rooms!

West Africa, just the place for United to play these mid-week friendlies they keep banging on about.
Maybe they could invite Bayern Munich, Arsenal & Liverpool too

Apparently. That's what someone said on BBC News Channel at the weekend.

Edit: Just googled it and a few references to it come up like this in The Telegraph.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/sierraleone/11130724/Ebola-outbreak-threatens-decades-of-British-help-to-Sierra-Leone-officials-warn.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... -warn.html</a>

The programme means that Britain is effectively the lead agency in dealing with the outbreak in Sierra Leone, a former colony. Around 400 NHS volunteers are also being trained to go to the country to help man the clinics

are they mad !! send our army , our defenders, to an area of the world under threat of plague !!
and when they return ,import said plague into the uk !!!
has china, australia, peru sent any troops to help ?? why always us ?????

There are returning via John Lennon airport so it'll be all right.

On a serious note what brave nurses we have volunteering to go and help stop a terrible disease. They wont be allowed back in the country without being checked out and quarantined.

Totally agree, so ruddy bloody brave. I reserve the right to call them do gooding cunts if they bring Ebola back with them though. I don't think for one minute they will all be quarantined on return.
