If it continues to look like a minority government, at what stage will the parties (if not their current leaders) start to position themselves for a second election in the autumn? Essentially let this election go in order to re-group and beat the failed minority government in November?
I've been wondering this. At what point does this become a tangible scenario?

No chance of that ,Fiddy. Whoever ends up in No.10 will be propped up by one of the minority parties.

Hopefully Tories propped up by UKIP, not only will the economy continue to improve we will get a chance to vote ourselves out of the EU. Win-win.

No idea why anyone would think getting out of the EU would be a good thing.

This is a wind-up right?

Then we differ in our opinions as the SNP have no interest of doing anything in the interest of anything but themselves and their next referendum or even better for them, making the English call for one.
True. To some extent the Ed and the Jocks thing could theoretically last for five years, but in practice it would probably result in a constitutional crisis which is why it won't happen and unfortunately why Ed is unlikely to be the next PM.

The SNP want a Tory UK government.

They can't say that. They have to go through the motions of supporting Labour to nullify the "vote SNP get Cameron" argument. But they want a Tory government. Use it to gain a landslide in the 2016 Scottish Elections, then fight for a for a second referendum once the oil price recovers.
This.

This scenario has crossed my mind , The Red Eds have stated they wouldn't change anything in the Budget and the Economy is booming , I can't think of any concessions Call me Dave would have to make as PM with Beaker as Deputy.
No chance.
Two Eds , Dave and George would resign.
Depending who wins the most seats I'm thinking:
Andy Burnham/ Teresa May. PM or Deputy PM
Yvette Cooper/ Jeremy Hunt. Chancellor or Home Secretary
Why do you think they'd resign? Can't see the sense in that.
They would have failed.
They can't possibly work with one another ( too much aggro between them in the election campaign).

Conventional wisdom is that a minority government should increase its majority at the second election. Implement a few populist polices then go to the country. As Wilson did in 1974.

But if you were a Tory grandee and contemplated the prospect of Labour being propped up by the SNP for 6 months before Salmond pulled the plug, wouldnt that be quite appealing?

If this Labour/SNP coalition ultimately ends in a war for independence between the Scots and the English, does that mean that Taggart, Pat Crerand and Lou Macari get interned?

Just askin'.

Taggart won't be affected sadly as he bought his knighthood from Labour remember, the champagne socialist piss-can moaning cheating watch-tapping hard-shoulder-because-he-needed-a-shit-driving slanderous fucking ****.

His endorsement of Labour is enough to vote Conservative.

Pmsl.

'The crash was everyone else's fault, labour couldn't have better prepared the economy by running a surplus during a boom.

The good economic climate in the UK now and zero inflation fell into the Tories lap'

I can't decide whether they are just stupid or just think everyone else is. It's amazing how every Labour government have left the country in a worse state than they found it.

How the hell they fucked up from the stable platform they were bequeathed in '97 is beyond me.

Still, at least Red Faced Ed got a good thrashing in the interviews and showed himself for what he is, clueless.

I actually think the same would have happened whoever was in power. I don't think anyone had much choice in what was going on. The systematic risk was to spread.

I think its genuinely out of any governments hands. We're heating up nicely these days as well now, lto be honest and its under the torie's watch

Economy is looking sound regardless of how the Tories went about it. Dave was foolish to make media circus about his future on the day 0% inflation was announced.
0% inflation is a lucky break that fell into the Tories' lap.
They weren't responsible for it.

this is getting even better.

carry on its fucking hilarious.

Only if you consider 0% inflation a good thing, though

A four percent lead and a better interview rating than Cam in the You Gov poll says otherwise.
Fcuk me , I know Cameron is trying to fight the 2010 election again, but you take the biscuit in going back to 1997.
Please enlighten us as to how the Tories brought about the fall in global oil prices which is the almost entirely responsible for the zero inflation.

Labour minority is now favourite with every single bookie. Lab minority is 2.1/1, Con minority is 3.1/1.

For those interested, a Lab/Con coalition is 50/1.

Even though Miliband & the Lab party have ruled out a coalition with the Libs, a lot of this is down to Lab wanting to pick up the Lib vote and try and gain an overall majority. Highly unlikely Lab will get an overall majority (17.5/1), so the 8/1 (9.5/1 on exchanges) for a Lab/Lib coalition seems a bit overpriced to me.
