My kid is goalkeeper so I know the default in keeper's training is not to use legs, but that kind f shot is not possible to save but with legs. Sorry, but de Gea is not conceding that, at least not from the first shot. I know it's everyone's guess where ball goes after leg save but when there's no other option it's legit to do it with leg and at least give yourself a chance.
He was still hurting from landing on his hip, maybe he couldn't do anything with his legs at that moment?

I agree that De Gea would probably have saved that but taken as a whole Ederson is much the better keeper for City.
Our style of play would have De Gea looking like a fish out of water in no time and the odd acrobatic save that he would have chance to make would be a poor substitute for the fluidity that Eddie gives us.
De Gea is not exactly a stone wall at the moment as the number of soft goals he’s conceded lately would show.

No arguments about that, I'd rather have Ederson for our style of game, than pretty much anyone else.

55 goals against De Gea this season says he is letting that get past him!

It doesn't. It might get past him of course, but he's very unique keeper with his leg work and probably saves that.

De Gea had pretty bad season compared to few before, but number of goals conceded by some team is in no way, shape or form, only due to keeper. Keeper can help or make it worse in few or 10, but defending through season is collective duty.

And my grandad was one of the greatest goal keepers to play the game (despite being a ****), that doesn’t make me an authority. The balls are like canons these days, to think he’d stop it from that distance is presumptuous.... anyway, he saved us numerous times last night by being commanding, he’s the dogs bollocks for me!

OK, than each shot on a goal is not saveable by that "cannon" logic. Of course it's not easy, but being elite player means you do some things that are not easy, but possible. That was possible to save.

I completely agree he had a good game overall and said that in the first post after the game. But that shot is saveable. I'd go as far to say that it is saveable to many with any decent reflex who are not trained to dive. And goalkeepers are trained to dive. And my personal opinion is that it is mistake for shots like that. No way to dive fast enough.

Which is it?

"Sorry, but de Gea is not conceding that"

"but he's very unique keeper with his leg work and probably saves that"

We're not on the court mate nor I am magician to know it. You'd have to give me some margin in my literal expressing. Or not. As I don't care a lot. Peace.

But he is saving that. Very, very probably

Gen Q and I don't know but from the ball leaving Sons foot, how long do you think Eddie has to process what he sees and reacts as you suggest?
Barely any time at all. Many GK will try what Eddie did and fail to save, but those who goes with the other option will probably save it. He almost had time to go down and save it, that tells me he definitely would’ve saved it had he used his foot.

I think de gea may have saved that but very few others. Not many keepers react with their feet the way de gea does. Most goalies would go down to their side as ederson did but there’s just not enough time from that distance. I’m not blaming Eddie at all, his training has taught him to get his body behind it. You react in that situation and his instinct was to dive. De geas is to kick.
