So in the end it boiled down to the UK having illogical regulations and bureaucracy that contributed to this fiasco. You can bet your house the Brazilians would not have made a fuss with Argentinean players who play in the PL in that match. It would have been a big slap in the face having your opponents fielding players from a league that prevented your own players from playing.
