Ederson or Ortega if it goes to penalties?

Who was it who subbed their keeper for a penalty shootout a few years back?

I’ve got it in my head that it was one of the many shit/wacky England managers…a Capello or a Hodgeson?

Netherlands brought on a bigger keeper against Costa Rica at a World Cup. Then the Costa Ricans bottled it and turned it into a great move - it really got into their heads tbf.

In the National League playoff final just recently Notts County did it ahead of their shootout with Chesterfield. Took off a keeper who was maybe 6 feet 1 and stuck on a guy who looked about 6 feet 6. He saved 2 and they won.

Not sure the worth of putting Ortega on, it's usually more a case of sticking someone bigger on to make the goal look smaller in the hope they bottle it. Ortega might be a good penalty stopper (I don't know), but he looks pretty small in the goal.

Must be Netherlands I’m thinking of then!

In normal time Ederson has saved 7 out of 54 (13%) in his career, Ortega has saves 9 out of 42 (21%)

Few good saves there... He's Ederson...

And in shoot-outs?

I think you have that the wrong way around.
Kepa refused to be substituted.
That's true, Kepa refused to go off, preventing 'penalty expert' Cabarello from coming on (bet that was harmonious in the Chelsea dressing room afterwards!)
Sterling won us the penalty shoot out and the cup with as good a penalty as you could hope to see ( not always the case with us!)
Going back to our old mate Willy, certainly won us the League Cup in 2016 with his saves in the shootout, can't say that he particularly filled me with confidence the majority of the time though!!

Ederson's record is 1 win in 1 from shoot outs for us.

Yet dilettantes complain.
