Ederson or Ortega if it goes to penalties?

This was something I mooted here some time ago. I was one of the 10,000 ( The covid Everton match ) who actually witnessed the rare sight of Ederson saving a penalty. Normally he is nowhere near them. The best was obviously Caballero. Ortega seems a bit more athletic than Eddie so it may be worth a shot if it comes to it.
Stood behind the goal at the South stand with my lad for that game. Had a good laugh at Pitchfork picking the ball out of his net and really enjoyed the Blossoms performance.

I don't remember the Blossoms, it was Sergio's last game though.

If it gets to penalties I don’t really care who’s in goal just as long as they don’t guess where the ball is going. Absolutely sick to death of seeing penalties being scored when they’re struck at the middle of the goal where the keeper stood before they dived.

Most penalties can’t be saved anyway because the ball is struck really well. At the very least give yourself a chance of saving it by waiting to see which way the ball is going first. Rant over.

I noticed Caballero did this against Liverpool and being incredibly quick and athletic saved them all except the first one. The picking a side and diving that way started years ago. I remember some keeper saying it looked great when it came off but you looked stupid when it didn't. Penalty takers sussed this out and that's why a lot go down the middle as they know a lot of keepers will pick a side and dive.

Who was it who subbed their keeper for a penalty shootout a few years back?

I’ve got it in my head that it was one of the many shit/wacky England managers…a Capello or a Hodgeson?
