Ederson to miss final 2 games of the season

This league is as bent as fuck, how could VAR not show this and not give a red.
I'm a 4th dan in ITF if that had have been the heel instead of the ball of the foot Eddie would have struggled to survive, the leg was locked out so there would have been no give. This guy should be banned from football

Think that picture is a bit misleading, but it was a definite red, the picture does show he was not in control of himself a red ask Kompany, and the ball already in Edersons hands.

Perspective. His boot totally missed Ederson, who then collides with Romero’s hip.

It was given as a yellow card as it was deemed a collision rather than violent conduct. Ie more Wily Boly than Sadio Mane.

Oh i forgot you can upgrade a yellow to a red, ask Webb he did it to Balotelli even after walking off the pitch saying he had seen the incident. Two posts involving law changes mid season against City, two of the six, god i am a cynic.

This incident does show the contrast with head injury protocols in RU. If a player suffers a blow to the head they have to go for a concussion check from an independent doctor. This entails them going off for 10 minutes to be checked over properly whilst their place is taken by a temporary substitute. If the player passes the assessment they are allowed to return to the field and the sub is withdrawn. Fail it and it’s automatic two weeks out. That to me seems more robust than what we have in football.
Only recent that we've even had the concussion rules we've got now. It's been overlooked for a long time, but with it coming to light about the historic damages to players, they had to do something and their hands were forced. They didn't really wanna bring in those changes. You're right to point to the rules in Rugby Union, something like that would be better all round.

Anyway, Eddy seems okay in that regard, and I don't see anything wrong in our medical staff, nor the oppositon medics, nor Eddy's reaction himself. All green lights as far as I'm concerned. Thankful that we have an amazing goalkeeping department including Eddy, Stefan, Scotty... err and Kyle...

Mate, there is nothing misleading about the eye focus and hitting his target, he is not looking at the ball already in Eddie's hands, had he contacted with the heel Eddie would have had a broken neck, no surprise VAR would not re- show it. That is a straight leg attack trust me the guy had bad intent to do that was far worse than what Mane did.
Looks to me that he's looking to intercept the ball with his foot if Eddie misses it, how you can tell where his eyes are focussed exactly from that angle beats me. Despite the damage to Eddie I'd say a yellow was fair as only the player knows what his intent was.

It is misleading as it looks as though Romero’s boot hits Ederson’s head and it didn’t.

This was the point and height of contact.

Hope he gets better soon but from a footballing perspective I’ve never been less concerned about a player being unavailable. In fact I’m actually a bit more confident with Ortega in nets.

I’ll say this til I’m blue in the face but as much as I love Eddie, I really do, Ortega deserves a shot at being first choice if it’ll persuade him to stay.

The issue is we are officiated completely different when it comes to fouls against us and our players are not protected. Jack was the PL most fouled player at Villa, half the time the foul isnt even given on him in games for us
We are kicked from minute one and the ref just allows it and often ends up losing control over the game due to his inactions. Yellow card offences go unpunished as do reds, often a red offence is the only way the opposition gets a yellow.
Teams know this and as we saw with Spurs, they just go out to kick us knowing they will get away with it. Remember Pep saying to Howe earlier this season that they normally do not play like that, after again they were allowed to foul at will.
Chelsea got 4 yellow cards in the 1st half alone v Dippers, its extremely rare for a team to get a card 1st half v us let alone 4 yet refs also cannot wait to book us.
It was disgraceful that both teams ended with 3 cards v Spurs considering their fouls and dangerous play.

Anyhow re this incident just glad it wasnt Taylor as ref as he probably would have given a penalty to Spurs
