The consequence of this might help in the long run. No team ever pressed Ederson, but will with Ortega or another keeper, meaning more space further up the pitch to exploit.

Always makes me laugh seeing the 17/18 games, Kev and Dave had a field day with the space in the middle before teams realised Eddie was a freak of passing nature.
We wouldn’t have won the league if it wasn’t for Ortega. He deserves a year as number 1 for sure.
Gutted if Eddie leaves, one of the very best we’ve had.
Also think we sign someone like Ortega as second choice as we have seen how important it is to have a keeper constantly pushing our number 1 and for cup competitions as well. Hard to imagine lucking out again though.

Exactly. Plus, whilst Ortega isn’t on the same level as Ederson, he can still pick out slide rule passes into midfield.

Figures hes been offered are eye watering; factor in that hes won every pot you can with City and Pep is off within the next 1-2 years.
If his heads been turned hes half out of the door anyway. Will be a big loss in terms of distribution. Im fine with Ortega as a shot stopper, but not so much in terms of the distribution aspect which is a key to how we set up and play.

Fair enough. Will be sad if he goes because he's been absolutely brilliant for us - I also think it's at least three years premature for his career to be wasted over in Saudi - but we've won everything together so it's understandable if he now wants to make sure he never has to work again after he retires. Ortega's good enough to be our #1 - he's earned that spot - and we'll move on like we always do.
