Edin or Mario?

Maybe its deeper than that....
Maybe its Roberto that needs to regroup...
It seems he has his favourites and plays only them.
It will ne a very long season next year with us going deeper into the FA and CL
I hope we can challenge for all three...
There will have to be a very competent "second row" for this team.
And playing time will be the toughest to manage.
If one has to go, I would choose Mario. Only for his antics.
But I hope both stay (and Tevez).

Dzeko was rested against Wigan at home for a more important upcoming CL game after he'd returned from playing an international game, why is that a problem?

Because he didn't score again until October 23! He'd scored 6 goals in 3 games, he had form and momentum going for him and in those cases I think players just wanna get on the field every game and carry on, even if they are a little tired. Dzeko has shown himself to be a player who struggles a bit with rotation and needs to have a run in the side for him to score goals (the QPR game aside) as most of his goals have come in chunks after large periods without scoring. That is one of my biggest problems with him.

Although, having said that, I'd be happy if he is still here next season, 19 goals in a season is good for any player, never mind somebody who has been 3rd choice for significant parts of the season.

How about changing title of this thread to Edin AND Mario???

Why do people even start this shit?

Both quality players. Edin is a natural finisher but , of course, the pundits hone in on the times he doesn't score whereas with Rooney and RVP we are NEVER treated to replays of their fluffed chances. Edin is an excellent link man, team player and his work rate is phenomenal. I pointed out in posts on here and in the MEN that Sergio scores more when partnered by Edin than by anyone else and that the claims that Edin "hadn't scored in three months" or hadn't scored "in his last ten appearances" were deliberately aimed at turning statistics into damned lies by ignoring the fact that in some of those games he had come on for 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or hadn't appeared at all. Everything should be done to keep him at the club.

Ability: Balotelli
Attitude: Dzeko

Dzeko looks most likely to leave though with Bayern sniffing around.

Well it's laughable if you think his goal drought was directly and totally as a result of being rested against Wigan at home, Aguero got a well-deserved hat-trick in that game by the way. Playing him in that game would've been like 3 games in a single week or something silly like that and considering we had 4 quality strikers at the time (Tevez hadn't gone awol by then), that was never going to happen. It's no coincidence that City had the least amount of injuries all season.

mario just for this

No, I don't, I'm just saying that sort of thing could have played a bit of a part, personally if I was a player and in the form he was in, I'd want to play as much as possible during that period, thats all. Of course there were other factors which contributed to his goal drought.

Let me start by saying that I want to keep Edin.

Mario? There are positives and negatives but I'd learn to live with it either way.

But I wanted to mention that part of the issue with Dzeko is what we have seen with our own eyes. Granted, one's own eyes can be deceiving, but some things that happened this year have been admittedly hard to forget. During his rough patches, some of those misses, those poor touches, those blown chances; for whatever reason, they left an impression on the supporters.

I will grant you that the guy scores a lot of goals (more than many clubs' LEADING SCORERS!), has not gotten his due amount of credit for some excellent work this season, as is dealt with unfairly by the media. And yet, many fans still have this scared sort of icky feeling deep down that Edin may not be able to handle the squad rotation that WILL be a part of the way things are here at City no matter what. I tend to agree that some of Bob's decisions messed with his head. I tend to agree that a lot of those appearances were too short to make a difference. However, unfair circumstances notwithstanding, perhaps the fans were looking for him to break through. To somehow still give us something when we were low, to convert a few of those missed chances when we were relying on him.

God knows, he did it on that last day of the season. Some of us wonder now, is he mentally tough enough to do it on command in the future? Let's all hope his header v. QPR was the start of a needed erasing (nay, replacing) of some unpleasant images.
