I genuinely think our four strikers - as a quartet - are the envy of every other side in the world. This thread is full of posters saying 'Dzeko can do AB and C and Mario can't/doesn't' and other posters saying 'Mario can do XY and Z and Dzeko can't/doesn't' which simply suggests to me they have different strengths. When you add Aguero and Tevez into the mix, as a quartet they are just awesome. Brilliant player though RVP is, if you replace any one of our current quartet with him, is the quartet stronger as a whole? Not by much, if at all. Lose Mario for RVP we lose certain things and gain others, likewise Dzeko, likewise Tevez.
The problems we have are not in terms of ability or playing attributes, but attitude and opportunity. Tevez' attitude is well documented. If he stays and wants to stay and sorts himself out, he is an incredible attribute even though he did shit on our shirt and rub our faces in it. Aguero is at risk of somebody making him an offer he can't refuse, because he's just that good, but fiortunately I think we are at least 1 season away from that. Mario is just Mario - nuff said. Dzeko is probably the least naturally talented of the four and therefore likely to get the least game time, and so is most likely to look elsewhere for first time football. He's a fantastic player, and gives us something which the other three do not; but you couldn't blame a player of his ability for moving on in search of more regular football.
So: both, if they genuinely want to stay and both accept that they will be rotated. And Tevez, if he can accept that too, and Aguero.
And Silva and Nasri too. And Yaya and AJ with overlaps from Clichy, Kolarov, Micah and Zaba.
Am I getting greedy now?
