Edinson Cavani

how is his attitude? would he be OK with sitting on the bench some games?

Balo, Dzeko, Cavani, Sanchez, Silva and AJ are too many players, especially when Mancini likes to play with 3 DM's. It could work if 4 of them start

And does he like to pass or is he a black hole like tevez and many others ?

-- Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:14 pm --

thanks for the help guys

Napoli wont sell him. The president already said that he wouldn't sell him for even 40 million.

he's only on loan at Napoli, he is property of Palermo.

though I believe Napoli do have a relatively cheap option to buy. Guess finishing 4th for them will depend on whether they listen to offers.

I don't thinl any top player likes sitting on the bench. So attitude wise, he will only want to go where he is wanted. Not to go seat on someone's bench. There are enough top teams who need starting Strikers. Arsenal, Totenham and Inter being 3 of them.

As for us having too many similar players that may be an issue. But if we start with 3 strikers. Cavani/Dzeko/Balo and 3 mids Silva/Yaya/De Jong as the primary team, with changes made according to opposition. They will all get mazimum playing time. Johnson isn't a worry in my opinion, he is not ready for a fulltime role at a top 4 club just yet.

As for playing style. He is quick, both in decision making and movement. And he likes moving without the ball. passes it on as quickly as possible and heads to the goal area, where he is most dangerous. So he is definitely no black hole.

But would I recommend this purchase? Probably not. Id rather have Lukaku as the 3rd striker and use him the way United does Chicarito now.

why would palermo loan him out if he is that good?
It's just an initial loan, there is a set fee he'll join for permanently in the Summer. Don't know why they do the initial loan bit, maybe something to do with cash flow, but Cavani wanted out.

Anyway, i'm not sure why, but i have an instinctive wariness over Cavani, no real rational reasoning to back it up though.

I would rather to have Lavezzi

Two years ago I would have agreed with you, but Lavezzi has not moved forward imo. Good player though he is, he's not turning out to be the world class player people thought he might.

Cavani is having a great run; seen him a few times this season. Think he'd need a couple more great seasons to justify 40m Euros though.

Cavani is brilliant. If Tevez was to leave he'd be top of my list in terms of replacements, for Palermo he always shown that he had ability but was too inconsistant and his decision making at times wasn't great, this season for Napoli he's improved a hell of a lot and for me has been the best striker in Seria A this season. He's great with the ball at his feet and knows how to finish, as Mancio said though he's not a target man and we don't need one of them anyway

I don't think he'd be a great signing, in the World Cup, he did little, and, not only that, but I feel he might take quite a while to adapt, and, if Tevez goes, this would be a problem. Not sure we really need a player like him when we have Dzeko.

We only need a striker if Tevez goes, as we have Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli, and then Adebayor, Bellamy and Caicedo all out on loan. That would be a quality strikeforce to have, and no additions needed (although Adebayor will probably end up at Real permanantly). Even so, Cavani would not be the right man to replace Tevez. Big risk, in my opinion.

Having said that, his goalscoring record at Napoli is great, so I'd have him on loan with a view to a permanent deal, but I just think he'd be a big gamble at the moment. Not only that, but would he and Dzeko fit into the same team?
