Eduardo Ban

Must have been reviewed by a different panel than the ones who reviewed Rooneys numerous dives and stamps last year. Despite clear evidence that the fat scouse arsehole was stamping all over other players he got away scott free.

Why is it?? he cheated and got found out players get banned for serious foul play sometimes when the ref hasn't seen it

If the ref sees serious foul play its a red card and a ban. If a ref doesn't see it, UEFA/FA can retrospectively punish the palyer with a similar sanction as if the ref had seen the incident.

If the ref see's Eduado dive, he's booked, if he doesn't he gets a two match ban, or a sanction 200% worse than if the ref see's it.

Justify that.

think about it, if the ref saw it and booked him they wouldnt get a penalty and wouldnt score a goal and as you cant change a result just giving him a yellow afterwards wouldnt be much of a apunishment, if a player knew he could dive and get a goal to win a game he would be more than happy to take a yellow card, end of arguement

I see what you mean. A yellow card is for trying to con the ref, a two-match ban is for succeeding. Has any journo bothered to ask the FA whether they'll adopt the same policy?

The issue really isn't the ban - he dived he got caught he got punished, totally justified.

The issue is there are no clear guidlines laid out by UEFA or the Premier league as to whether all incidents will be reviewed. As someone said earlier its all about consistency. If they now brought this in across the board then it would help to stop diving which can only make the game better.

Exactly, this has opened a whole can of worms. By banning Eduardo they have set a massive precedent.

Any dive in the area (and lets face it there will be a lot of them in the coming months) will now be highlighted and UEFA will be expected to dish out the same punishment. If they do, then great, it is about time they clamp down on diving.

But somehow I cant see that happening....

Spot on. He got what he deserved and as I said on a previous thread, Arsenal would have won the game and the Tie anyway, Eduardo's cheating influenced the game when there was no need for his actions. It's now up to other leagues to implement bans for similar incidents, starting with the English FA looking into Rooney at the swamp on Saturday night. Another aspect i'd like to see challenged is the referee, what punishment will be given to them for their incompetence?

a bold and worthy decision by UEFA. the ban is just and is meant to make it's point. let's see the next jobber dive in the box like that...

I bet it will be a while before anyone tries that again.
