EFL Playoffs time

Good argument, however to play devils advocate, could Boro not claim they’ve missed out as they were cheated against?
Fair point. It's a tricky situation but Boro knew somebody was spying on them, whether they did or didnt i dont know but they had an opportunity to change things ahead of the game so for me the disadvantage they've been put at isn't all that significant, they still lost the ties in the end. The sensible solution was probably financial compensation, getting a free ride to the play off final seems like they've benefitted hugely. Southampton got a very harsh punishment and hull who have fuck all to do with it are also now at a disadvantage.

The fact they admitted to spying on Oxford and Ipswich is telling. Why just those 2 random teams? Oxford especially who were always near the bottom of the league and no real competition to them. That says to me they did it to everyone hence the big punishment.

Incredibly excessive. No way is that proportionate to whatever minimal sporting advantage they would’ve gained from spying on Boro. Fine them or give them a points deduction for next season but to expel them from the play-offs and reinstate a losing team is ridiculous.
CAS are going to be busy.

We are talking about what essentially amounts to getting to the biggest game in football and being given the keys to the PL door if you win it.

The prestige, the huge amounts of money, the ability to attract better players. It’s fucking gigantic.

Spying on the opponent is a ****’s trick. If as a result of that, Southampton, get the keys to the PL door and Hull don’t, that’s seismically out of order.

Cunts may well have spied on us.

It’s also incredibly stupid in the context of all the footage, analytics and sports science clubs have access to now. Sitting in a bush with binoculars is absolutely mental when you take this context into account.

The outcome is right. Fuck them off and make a fucking example of them.

I don't think they get kicked out if it's a one off. But it turns out they've been doing it since last year.

Should have let them continue, if they were to win the final give half their money for going up to Middlesbrough. Now if Middlesbrough lose, both teams lose out, they already had two chances to beat Southampton in the play offs and didn’t.

SHame Middlesborough just reinstated like that. Means they get a Bye basically into final

Yeah it’s a total mess mate, completely unprecedented. Considering Leeds got a small fine, it seems disproportionate to me. I’d argue a huge fine, equaling maybe half the money you get, with it going to Middlesbrough is the sensible option.
