Elano on way out?

Good enough for Brazil s midfield (better than Kaka in the last couple of games) and yet he's not good enough for us.
I'm not debating the fact hes not played well of late, but neither did Stevie Ireland for most of last season and look how nicely thats worked out.

I've just had a thought. If Petrov was fit, would Elano be playing?
Bear with me here. Robinho plays on the left so we have no width that side. Vass on the right isn't really good enough, we all know that. I think we are playing quite a narrow style and that doesn't suit Elano. He is most effective when he has players out wide to play his long balls to. When we are more narrow Elano has fewer options to pass to and is therefore less effective.
