Elano & Robinho

On the way back from Pompey some idiot on Talkshite - was it Collymore? - was banging on about Elano and Robinho being a disgrace, not trying, etc etc. While we were all annoyed at Robinho's display none of us in the car could work out why Elano was getting it in the neck for lack of effort as he always was trying to make things happen. Ok his passing was a bit wayward but I don't see how he could be faulted for lack of effort.

so your saying flair players cant track back and work hard for the team? im not saying they should go round kicking people, just put in a decent work rate. as fathellensbellend said, anyone who pays to watch city has the right to see players work hard even if they are not having a great game, and for me these two players didnt

Robinho has never been a player to track back he may have had two or three successfull tackles in his entire carreer.
He is in the team to provide goals and flair, he provided neither yesterday.

Elano should track back aswell as provide flair, i thought he put in a decent shift yesterday or at least he was no worse than the rest of the team.

My main point is that this happens everytime City loses, a couple of players gets singled out for abuse, there is something wrong with the entire team, and that needs sorting.[/quote]

it may appear they are getting singled out, but on the flip side, fans are wholesome with their praise when things go well.

its all about perception, if you cast your mind back to the cup game v forest, we are 2-0 down, 10 minutes to go, and elano is ambling over to take a corner, it gives the impression of someone who doesnt give a fuck, again yesterday, we are 2-0 down, just into injury time, and he is jogging over.

i am sorry, but whether these players are playing for the manager is one thing, i know for sure, they have a duty to the fans to put some sweat on their shirts, regardless of their performance.

...it looks like they want to play for there country more than there club...

Or their countries manager, more than their club manager perhaps?

I don't think you can single out just them two yesterday. De Schlong was poor, so was Ireland too. I don't think it is the individuals entirely at fault though, it's the whole tactics and set-up of the team that needs changing IMO.

If thats the case then they have a disgraceful attitude.

If your point is that there was a lack of urgency in their performance yesterday I cannot argue with that.

My point is though, that the entire team lacked urgency!

Last sentence so spot on I almost cried. Robinho was on of the worst players yesterday but he is no doubt our best player. Elano wasn't the worst yesterday but I doubt the best on the pitch either. GET YA SHIT TOGETHER BLUE BOYS!!

Dont understand why people are picking on these 2.
Elano was the only 1 trying to create (badly)he also got back and got stuck in, Rob was shite, but then again who wasnt.
So we should get rid, stick them in the reserves? its all to do with our tranfer policy? get a grip guys..we played shit as a team including the management....it happens get used to it.
Portsmouth havent been playing bad recently, there not as shite as we think.

We could of had threads like:

Bridge & Bellamy
Logan & Big Phil
Kompany (cptn) & Zab
DeJong & Given
Onuha & Ireland

And it should be

Hughes & Team

never said they should be dropped mate and put in the reserves they just need a rocket up there arse. as someone pointed out and it pains me to say it, can you imagine strawberry nose putting up with there disgraceful attitude that they had yesterday? because i cant

Yes i agree that they should give 110% every match but the point is they dont. They are, whether we like it or not, highly-strung/spoilt - call it what you want.(I'm not jsut talking about Robbie/Elano here) Get over it, its a fact.

They have more money than they can ever spend and their motivation is entirely different than we can perceive. This is why someone like Hughes cannot get the best from such players and why someone like Scolari or Mourhino might be able to. Whereas Hughes tactic might be to bully them into playing ie 'pull your'e sleeves up and get stuck in' i think Mourhino will be more around getting a team to gel for a common purpose ie success, and that person can generate that belief - that is why they are great leaders.
