Italy have been trialling a road that charges you car as you drive, think it gives enough charge so your charge doesn't depleteEventually there will be wireless charging built into parking spots. Think they already have them in the states.

Well if you are offering! We should all be issued with one and be done with it.
I'm a few months into my 1st EV (Skoda Enyaq 2021). Not only that, but my 1st ever automatic car, my 1st ever car with aircon!, inbuilt satnav/Bluetooth etc. It's incredibly spacious and comfortable, and the drive? OMG. OK it's not a Tesla Plaid, but still, the power I get from this 'family car' is thrilling. Stick it into sport mode and I'd give pretty much any ICE car a run for it's money from 0-60. After that maybe not. But you don't want to drive like that all the time, I'm not a total knob.It does!
The instant throttle response (to use old terminology!) can be both good and bad. No turbo lag or gear changes to get in the way, means it really is instant.
When you really need acceleration, like at a junction. Or to overtake/change lane/move out of the way. It is a real blessing. You are gone before the other guy knows what is happening.
On the other hand, you really have to adapt your driving. I'm very experienced with fast cars. I've had them all my life. But EV's are completely different.
In a normal fast car, you floor it and there is a slight pause. Even in naturally aspirated cars, you have to wait as the revs rise, or shift down. Not in EV's. You floor it, you are instantly shot forwards. Things on the horizon are soon with you. You can get in a lot of trouble really fast.
Part of the reason is because you don't get the aural cues of a revving engine. A screaming engine reminds you that you are travelling fast, and to watch your speed. A silent EV can means you don't always know your speed.
A few EV's now offer fake exhaust sounds and gear change clunks. I know that sounds terrible to the purists. But It really does help give that "thing" EV's have missing.
My 4 year old Tesla goes back in Sept and I'm getting a Skoda Elroq instead. Had the Kodiaq a few years ago and liked that.I'm a few months into my 1st EV (Skoda Enyaq 2021). I'm lucky to have a driveway with a home charger and as long as I watch my speed on the motorways, can easily get to MCR or Leeds on a single charge. Thereafter it's a bit of a bun fight to find working chargers coupled with decent charging rates - it is v expensive to super-charge. The investment and infrastructure is nowhere near where it needs to be, when it is hopefully the energy costs will lower and that will attract many others to take the leap into EVs. It's a pleasure to drive and after 40yrs of manual gear changing, my knees are fucked so I really won't miss any of that.
Vive la revolution!
If you're government are persuading people to ditch ice cars, how will they replace the massive income they get from petrol excise duty? The cost of some new electric cars will soon be reduced by up to £3,750 under grants being introduced by the government to encourage drivers to move away from petrol and diesel vehicles.
The discounts will apply to eligible vehicles costing up to £37,000, with the most environmentally friendly vehicles seeing the biggest reductions, the Department for Transport (DfT) said.

Would it not be better to spend that money allaying some fears people have about EV's like investing in more chargers in rural areasThe cost of some new electric cars will soon be reduced by up to £3,750 under grants being introduced by the government to encourage drivers to move away from petrol and diesel vehicles.

The boss lady lives near Tenbury and we regularly visit. There are 6 EV chargers in the main car park and I've yet to see one in use.Would it not be better to spend that money allaying some fears people have about EV's like investing in more chargers in rural areas
..And its even better than that.I was trying to think of a way to describe the power and torque of an EV, to someone who has never driven one.
Basically, imagine a car where you are always in the right gear, with the right revs and all the power all of the time...
Meanwhile in this country we cant even fill the millions of pot holes in the roads :-)Italy have been trialling a road that charges you car as you drive, think it gives enough charge so your charge doesn't deplete
Its called a motorbike. They have been doing it for decades.I was trying to think of a way to describe the power and torque of an EV, to someone who has never driven one.

By keeping the price of public chargers high and continuing to get tax from those who live in flats or houses without drives and therefore can't use EVs reasonably. If you're government are persuading people to ditch ice cars, how will they replace the massive income they get from petrol excise duty?

There is no denying the power of an ev but they all look shite and sound like a milk float. They do have a place for those who only see a car as a means to get from a to b but for those of us that are actually car enthusiasts they really don't tick the boxes...And its even better than that.
I liken it to being fired from a catapult or if you've ever been on the rockin' roller coaster ride in Florida it's like the start of that (but not the second part where you end upside down lol)
I've had 2 EV's for the last 3 years and about to get my 3rd - If you have a drive just get one they are F***ing brill.
