My oil switch in the sitting room.. when switched on it’s causing a trip switch to go which won’t stay up. So can’t heat house. Any advice

One thing to try: Turn ALL the trip switches off and then ALL back on again. If that doesnt work repeat with test switch (probably yellow) held down.
Am not electrician but my sparks advised me to try this.....and it worked.

I'm sure the correct answer will be along shortly but to save the wait I'm sure it will involve bricks, torch and insurance.

One more thing occurs to me. If your consumer unit is newish, the latest generation are v. sensitive: so, if there are any other items on the same circuit, check and remove anything dodgy, including failed light bulbs.
Sorry but that is just daft advice, he should smash all his furniture up and use it for a fire.

My money will be condensation build up in the boiler. This time of year obviously is very damp.
