29£ for Mangala? LOL...

Could be worse, we could have signed Fellaini for £4M above buy out clause.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

If we can sign these two up before the World Cup circus starts for the reported £41M or so it would be good business.

I know yeah, I think rentboys bought zouma for 12.5 mill!!! 29 mills way too much , hope we don't pay that much

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Surely quick moves with the world cup coming up? Hardly ground breaking that we want mangala and fernando as per January but they would be fantastic additions to the team and squad! Add possibly shaw and the rumour of cavani in with edin out then WOW!

Yep would certainly take him on a free mate

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

29M is a good deal for Mangala. If you think the Rags bought Ferdinand for 30M all those decades ago..

He has the potential and class to be the perfect CB partnership with Kompany until he retires, which is like 7 years. Well be set for the long foreseeable future at CB.

Zouma is 18 and unproven, yet cost 12.5. Mangala is 23 and consistent, and has scored a near record haul for a CB this season. Hell be good I assure you.

If we got 'em for nowt the RagMeedya would still say it was too much. We have now established among the 'football family' that we aren't being taken for a ride. If we have recognised the kind of player who will take us to the next level and Cheeky Stan thinks they are worth it, then BUY!!

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Mangala will cost more than Zouma for obvious reasons.

1. He's not a teenager.
2. He's at a more advanced stage of his development and more "ready made" (even if not the end product).
3. Plays for a bigger and better club who know they can get good transfer fees.
4. Has four seasons worth of experience in the Champions League with Porto and Standard.
5. More big clubs are interested in Mangala than Zouma so naturally he'll cost more.

Mourinho all but admitted he wanted Mangala more than Zouma, but went on one of his tirades about FFP making them sign the cheaper option.

Mangala is better compared to Rio Ferdinand when United signed him at the same age in 2002 for a final book value of £34m. It was money well spent for 10+ years of service, helping them win trophies.

I'm happy City aren't messing around if they close this deal. Txiki had a bad habit at Barcelona of neglecting defence and City haven't invested nearly as much there as other positions, so it'll be a welcome change rather than another £20m+ striker.
