Would have loved to see him as a rock in our defence and to be honest when you're playing those that hoof in into the box to someone like Carrol or Crouch he's ideal but positioning and playing out effectively, forget it.

Happy we got a good price but I hope he doesn't get stuck at QPR, I can see why he would want a team that at least plays in Europe to challenge for a place in the France national team having thought about it.

How can they afford him though when they aren't even in the PL?(almost forgot)

He's easily PL quality and they know it judging by what they've offered.

£23m is more than I'd hope for. Good luck to him, he's a likeable character but just couldn't cut it with us. Was a far better player, or at least looked like it, with Porto than with us. Other than being solid at the back with Porto, 6 goals several assists in Porto for 0 goals 0 assist with us at around the same number of games. Even scored twice and assisted 3 with Valencia while on loan.

Just wasn't meant to be.
