When you're signing a player, it's not just about ability - you've got to look at the person too. Anderson doesn't strike me as someone where the talent is there but the application can be inconsistent. He comes across as grounded, hard-working and genuinely driven to improve and become the best version of himself.
Week in, week out his work rate really stands out. He plays like a complete midfielder, and the kind you associate with players like Gerrard or De Bruyne. There's that same mix of aggression, energy and quality. He's got the power to drive forward, the range to switch play and the mentality to inspire those around him. I really see him as a future captain figure - as I do Guehi.
What really stands out is how much ground he covers, as it's like having two midfielders in one at times. Over a full season, that kind of consistency and effort always shows in the numbers, but even just watching him, you can see the impact. For Forest, he often looks like their standout player.
That pass against Brentford earlier in the season was top level, the kind of thing you'd expect from De Bruyne at his best.
He feels like exactly the type of player you build a successful team around and someone with the mentality, determination and work ethic to raise standards at this Football Club going forwards. If he keeps developing the way he is, there's every chance he could go on to surpass someone like Declan Rice over time. Has the same attitude as Rice (which is an amazing characteristic), but he has more technical ability in my opinion.
He has to be the number 1 target this summer. If we missed out on him and United got him, I'd be pretty annoyed to say the least.
