Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

I think Andersons people would be naive to not at least listen to the rags offer to be honest, especially if there is doubts over Peps immediate and long term future
So, whatever happens with Pep, he’d be as well looking to play for Michael Carrick? Interesting take…

Lets hope that the £75m release clause to champions league clubs is true then as i dont see us doing more than £80m including add ons to be honest.
I don't think a release clause is in place it has not been mentioned by any of our local journalist. I have stated previously that I think it will be 80m which will be a bargain. The only thing which we might ask for is that the majority of the fee is paid up front and not spread over the length of the contract you might give him .

True but also still manage to find £200-300m every summer window even though the debts grow? For the record, i think we have got Anderson but if we didnt offer the money required and they did, i dont think he would have any problem going to them.
i cant see how we'll find money for him unless it's 25 million tops because every player thread you go on says their off in summer

Pep is a huge draw but the club I feel is catching up on his own merit now for player recruitment. We don’t need to solely rely on pep to get players.

I agree, but also don't feel like we ever really struggled - money is what really talks!

We managed to get Tevez and Adebayor to come and play for Mark Hughes ffs!

If you look at it that way mate thats up to you but MANY players have come here to play for Pep as well as in the premier league?
Many have also chosen other clubs too, it also doesn’t make any difference because it’s not as if,if they can’t play for Pep at City they can play for him somewhere else because he won’t be joining another club for a while , if ever.

Agreed. City in 2016 are a completely different proposal to players in 2026.

10 years is a hell of a long time in football but also in life, in 2016 we'd won two Premier Leagues but fast forward 10 years we've now won six plus an embarrassment of trophies elsewhere.

Not only that, we're now at a stage where younger players have grown up through academies etc. only seeing City dominating English football and will have been setting their sights on reaching the top. Regardless of the manager.

For example, Anderson is 23. If we be generous with time, he's spent ages 13-23 seeing us dominate.

The 2 players who came in January both signed and the stories about Pep were around then and didn’t stop them signing

Also how we treat players. Departing players have no bad words on the whole. Special club to join. Sounds dipperish but past success and how we have won. Some of the titles have been dramatic and will stick in any young footballers mind.

The club is in a great position.

We’ll pay whatever it takes mate. Special player.
As I’ve mentioned in another thread, we can’t afford to skimp now when we’re just a few players away from re-becoming one of Europe’s elite. You buy cheap, you buy twice and at this point we’ve bought at least four times. Imagine where we’d be now if we bought that engine in Rice or Joao Neves.

They are trying copying us but bottom line the glazers still own them
Yes, but Scruffy Jim is the public face of that shower of shite.
As he is such a penny-pinching, miserly, miserable individual, I'm sure ambitious young players will walk well away.
Anderson strikes me as someone who wants to regularly play in the Champs League.
That is not guaranteed at the Trafford Tramps...

Man U are a club which only appears to appeal to mercenaries who are interested just in pay packets instead of trophies. I'm sure City will offer a reasonable package to Anderson which will be 3 or 4 times his Forest salary but I imagine that your club offer high success bonuses.

This right here. Every young player today has only known City as the top club in England. In Champions League every year. Trophy after trophy. Not to mention Pep… if City want him, he will come.

And I’m sure we’ll still get plenty of players want to come to play for Kompany too, be it this summer or knowing he’ll be here in 2027 ;-)

Players want to play for clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, City because those are the best clubs in the world and anything but winning is considered a failure. Who that is currently managing them is rarely a deciding factor, any manager could be gone in a couple of months if results are not good enough anyway.
