Since this isn’t the political forum, I won’t go too far in to the weeds in my reply. I will say that the Conservative government at the time was as responsible for the debacle as Soros was, but I agree he was a major player and I don’t think billionaires should exist, full stop. This is my area of expertise, so I feel pretty strongly about it.

However, Musk’s tirade likened Soros to Magneto (from X-Men). Musk—being someone well versed with popular media—could have picked any villain from any comic, book, series, or film, but he chose Magneto. That was a deliberate choice to anyone that has been keeping up with how Musk has been operating for the last few years.

It was an antisemitic attack, separate from any legitimate concerns about Soros’ power and influence.

Soros just took an opportunity that was presented to him at the time by government policy, and the consequent forced withdrawal from the ERM eventually gave the economy quite a boost after short term difficulties. Arguably it led to Major losing the next election and 13 years of Labour government of which the first 11 years was generally regarded as a highly successful period for the country until the global financial crisis led to 13 years of austerity and decline with the current lot.

It’s amazing to me how many people ignore the old saying that “when they tell you who they are, believe them” when it comes to Elon Musk.

I have had so many debates with people I would otherwise consider intelligent and considerate that have essentially amounted to them saying all criticism of him is overblown leftist attacks and “woke” culture run amok, even despite all of my criticism being centred on things he has done and said himself. They’ll even often reject clips like this when I provide them, saying they are taken out of context.

I have become convinced that some people just want him to be able to do whatever he wants, no matter how awful or corrupt, without consequences, because they hope one day to be able to do the same, so he (and people like him, such as Trump, Johnson, etc.) needs to be protected in order for that to be a possibility.

It’s the only explanation I can think of, given the vast majority of people are merely a means of attaining and holding power and fame—the latter of which he is always desperate for—and all of them are being used for that purpose, with no real hope of ever benefiting in anyway way from being his zealots.

It’s just dumbfounding that people still don’t see that he is a racist, fascist, antisemite, nepobaby, conman that has used outright fraud, naked criminality, and a well-groomed cult of personality to escape accountability for years.

At some point it’s hard to ignore what’s screaming at you. I don’t know why Musk or anyone would feel that white supremacist are unjustly maligned but to defend them as much as he and his defenders do should say enough…
