I don’t think that any more. People are agitating for change from all sides - and this is understandable, our world faces a lot of challenges. When people don’t feel change happening they become increasingly frustrated and this pushes them to the margins. It’s become difficult to advocate for moderate approaches because we need radical solutions to big problems.

In an environment like this people will gravitate to those who have clarity of message - simple solutions to complex issues. The far right does this better than any other political segment, and if we think our population is too smart to be taken in by these platitudes then I think we have another thing coming.

These extreme right wingers are taking advantage of the unhappy populations and feeding them misinformation. That's the real problem.

I don’t think it’s particularly contentious to say that people voted for him because they wanted him to be President. Would have thought that goes without saying. They clearly don’t have a problem voting for a dishonest, sex offending, criminal blowhard or they wouldn’t have done it.
I don’t know why they’re happy to vote in such a lowlife scumbag and don’t particularly care.

Until people learn that "unhappy populations" aren't brainwashed people who aren't as smart as you, the rise will continue.
The rose could have been predicted by BNP results in the early 2000s but nobody listened. Idiots dismissed it as just dumb people, people who obviously couldn't stand up to THEIR intellectual understanding of the world, voting. And yet they won seats in Europe. Then UKIP. Then Brexit. Now Reform.
The more you presume these people are idiotic sheep who shouldn't be listened to because they're brainwashed, the closer you'll get walked into a nationalist government.

People who believe that others who vote differently from them must be evil or stupid are cretins. And ironically, often stupid themselves. It's why I love democracy so much, it will punish your cowardice and arrogance.

Personally I come at it slightly differently and think most people are stupid, the issue is not enough people think that about themselves and focus on the perceived stupidity of others. That’s been exacerbated by the use of social media coming way before society having levels of social intelligence high enough to use it.

It’s an interesting time though as the blurring of fact and opinion and even what’s true or not makes it very difficult to raise that social intelligence, its there by design to stop that from happening.

Thats a nice reframe. But that wasn't the original claim. Either way, like I said, it's a free country. You are free to believe whatever you want.
