Elon Musk says he has created a new political party - the America Party - after asking his followers if he should do so in an online poll.

I dunno. A bloke who gets loads of government subsidies but moans about taxes and the size of government? Seems like a decent comparison to me. Musk hates Clarkson though after they were rude about his car back in the day.

He's a pro-EU conservationist who thinks that Government bureaucracy has overridden common sense, something I'm not entirely unsympathetic towards.

Possibly great news for Democrats because if Musk actually carries through with this - I rather doubt that he will - his party will pull votes mostly from Republicans - I hope.

I posted the announcement of Musk's new party with a link to Fox News on purpose - because it's important to gauge how effective Musk's party might be at pulling votes from Trump should it actually materialize.

Based on comments to the above post on Fox News - it's not obviously clear that the most rabid of Trump voters (Fox News post commenters) don't necessarily reject Musk's party out-of-hand. Which indicates that the Musk party could actually pull current MAGA voters away from MAGA. And even though this pull may be very, very small, a pull away from MAGA along the lines of, say 5% or so, may swing votes in favor of Democrats (I randomly used 5% as a metric because Elon Party is going to attract some voters who voted Democrat - but I think that his is going to be very, very small on the order of at most 3% - a guess).

TL/DR - It seems that Musk's new party may well pull votes away from Trump, more than, and IMO far more than, such a party will pull votes away from Democrats.

So fuck yeah! Go go go Musk! Launch your new party - and Godspeed. I fucking hate you and fundamentally disagree with basically anything you propose - but so long as you fuck MAGA - you're a nominal friend - in the sense that you're an enemy of my enemy.

Does anyone think that Pres Trumps disregard for the majority of the people in USA is making him more and more like Mr Putin who concerns himself solely with the Moscow and St Petersberg residents.

The point being that eventually his golf days and public appearances may be limited and he may need doubles to appear to carry out his duties or even removed from public duty permeenantly now he has served his purpose for the super rich.
 
Musk is a narcissist who is possibly even more unpredictable than Trump.

Trump will likely screw Musk every way he can... so maybe Musk actually carries through with his plans for the America Party.

Assuming that the America Party actually runs candidates in 2026 - I think that the net effect will be a bigger loss of voters for MAGA than for Democrats.

We'll see though - Musk's announcement of a new party strikes me as a momentary pique of anger, and not something that will last longer than a few months or so.

He's attracting more nut-job potential assassins that recent presidents - what's curious is that all of the assassins seem to be Republican nutjobs.
