Elon Musk

I admire his view on space travel and the like pre 2020 you could see lots of his ideas were all aimed at the one goal of mars Colonisation. Rockets, to electric cars. Solar panels, tunnel boring machines to satellite broadband comms. Every one is a key part of what would be needed up there. It may well be a pipe dream but he has been putting pieces in place.

you could see he was going off the rails tho and in the last few years has totally lost it. He needs to step away from social media and weed and just continue with his Mars mission.

Tax wise is an odd move by the US government. To tax company owners on unrealised gains is an insane move. No one should be forced to sell there shares of there companies to pay taxes just because the company does well. The second they liquidated any assets then hammer the tax. Also need to seal the loop holes where by companies by houses / cars erc and in effect gift them to the owners. Not that’s one Musk has done ( recently? He did sell of a lot of his mansions) he currently lives in a 1 bed apartment with his wife and kids.

I’m not a huge Noah fan but he makes a very good point here about unrealised gains

Sensible person would swap ownership of Tesla for the Cave man's cash in bank, the stock is overvalued and there is no way it can ever be realised. But then it isn't really about money when you get past a certain point.
People been saying it is overvalued since it was 5 dollars a pop.
They have all be made to look stupid, over time

I do quite like his stuff here but he’s not really right here in my view. Using assets as collaterol isn’t the same thing as having the money. It’s borrowing money with the promise that you would sell those shares to pay it back If you had too. Same as using a house a collateral to get a big bank loan.

for 1 off large purchases it’s a good way to do things. If it’s a yearly expense that has no monitory benefit ( in terms of boosting the assets or new assets ) not so much.

To be honest I don't think Musk gives two shites about politics just like the vast majority of people don't. His only involvement in politics is to push for an environment where he can create products without political meddling and I don't understand how anyone can't be 100% behind him. Whether people like the guy or not is irrelevant, his achievements speak for themselves.

I think the greatest threat to humanity at the moment is politics and political trenching. When you go on social media or even on here the one thing that divides us and causes all the problems is politics. The funny reality though is the pointlessness of it all. If we burnt down Westminster then honestly what would change? Nothing. That's the impact of branding people by politics, it's utterly and completely pointless. I'm much more interested in his cars to be honest.

Personally I really admire Musk, he's a person pushing forward technology and he should be given all the help he needs. In comparison, do we really think having Labour or the Tories in power for 100 years will change the planet? Will it balls, it'll make absolutely no difference who is in power so why do we even give a toss?

Bring back Guy Fawkes I say and let's do away with the politics, treat each other with respect and allow these extremely clever people to get on with what they want to do.
If politics has nothing to do with his success, then why did he have to move to America to become successful?
