Elton John

Crocodile Rock was 50% of my first solo record buying expedition, Boots in Stockport, I bought it because I had a girlfriend called Susan at the time, well that's my excuse anyway.

The other single I bought was Gudbuy t'Jane by Slade, both songs were in the top ten at the time I'm sure.

Within a few short months I had received my first shoplifting caution, for stealing a copy of Wizard's See My Baby Jive, from Boots in Stockport.

As for Elton, wouldn't leave the house to see him live but he has churned some really good songs out, one of my favourite songs to listen to is a cover of his and Bernie Taupin, Your Song by Billy Paul, really nice upbeat version.

I'm old enough to remember the way Elton used to get hounded mercilessly by the press regarding him being queer, seemingly to the extent that he felt he had to marry a woman to get some peace, how times have changed.

What are people opinions on him?

For obvious reasons its not very cool to like him is it. But some of his tunes like "Daniel" "Your Song" "Saturday Nights alright for Fighting" and the original "Candle in the Wind" are classics.

I doubt anyone doesnt like a couple of his songs at least but most wouldnt admit it for fear of being accused of being a fruit

he's just a bitter old fruit
