Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Box Cowboy

some great tunes back in the day, and still own all the albums

if you hold them up to the light they had a red tinge to them

What are people opinions on him?

For obvious reasons its not very cool to like him is it. But some of his tunes like "Daniel" "Your Song" "Saturday Nights alright for Fighting" and the original "Candle in the Wind" are classics.

I doubt anyone doesnt like a couple of his songs at least but most wouldnt admit it for fear of being accused of being a fruit

Good style, heard from a few people he's actually a decent person, and some catchy songs. I'd accuse someone of being a fruit for liking shitty techno or Morrissey before I'd accuse someone of being a fruit for liking elton John

Loved most of his stuff up to about '76, but after that I kind of lost interest. Madman Across The Water, about 1971, is a much under appreciated album which I play regularly. Levon, Tiny Dancer, Holiday Inn; all great songs.

Not a huge fan until I bought a box set of his first five albums from Amazon. Only a couple of the hits on them but boy, what a great collection of songs. From a time when albums were albums and meant to flow and have a distinctive feel. Highly recommended, but he is a tit!

I try and explain this concept to my kids but they just look blankly back at me.
