Emergency keeper loan / Hart / Brum [All merged]

Re: Emergency keeper loan [Merged]

An emergency loan would probably be the best option at this point. I think we're all agreed that the perfect scenario would be Gunnar delivering 3 spectacularly good performances to seal 4th spot.

However, there are two points here that I think are important:
1) It's all very well us bluemooners saying 'give him a chance' on the basis of a) 15 odd minutes at Arsenal and b) the fact that he has a professional contract so he must be quite good, but think about it: a) the City coaching staff have decided to apply for the emergency loan, and I for one think they are probably in a MUCH better position to judge whether he's good enough, what with seeing him train EVERY DAY (or close enough); b) there are a lot top flight professional keepers who are really quite rubbish.

2) Consider: Gunnar starts against Tottenham; we're 1-0 up; he has a late shocker and we draw. Very conceivable situation. Now obviously that could happen to the emergency loan keeper too. But think about the DEVASTATING effect that'd have on the lad. It'd probably stunt his progress for a fair while, and I don't want to see that happen.

Re: Martin Fulop to be our temporary keeper!?!?!?!

bulgarian i think big guy at 6 foot 7, i would feel a little sorry for our gunnar he must see this as chance to make his name

Re: Emergency keeper loan [Merged]

he;d have to be pretty thick skinned to stay after being overlooked for an emergency stand in.

Re: Emergency keeper loan [Merged]

Marton Fulop has told skysports.com that he would be honoured to sign for Manchester City.

Roberto Mancini's side have lost Shay Given for the rest of the season after he dislocated his shoulder during the weekend draw with Arsenal.

City number two Stuart Taylor is also sidelined through injury, as is fourth choice David Gonzalez.

That only leaves number three Gunnar Nielsen available to City, and they have made a request to the Premier League to sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan.

They may also try and bring back Joe Hart from his loan at Birmingham City, but it is believed his season-long stay does not have a clause that will allow him to be recalled.

City have therefore been forced to look elsewhere and Sunderland's Hungarian shot-stopper Fulop has emerged as one of the most likely targets.

"I can't confirm officially any approach because personally I haven't been contacted by anyone," Fulop told skysports.com.

"But if the news is true then I'd go there happily and I would be hungry to play for Manchester City.

"This is an enormous honour for me that my name has been linked with a club which has such a great history."

Fulop, who has played 14 games for Sunderland this year, was not involved in the weekend win at Hull City with young Northern Irishman Trevor Carson providing the back-up to number one Craig Gordon.

Fulop would do me, but obviously Hart is the preferred option.

Surely something there could be sorted.

I'm sure the club will do everything they can to get Hart back if thats what Mancini wants, unfortunately its Brum's decision. Have we actually been granted permission to get a keeper in yet? It could take a few days for this to get sorted with red tape and everything. Hopefully whoever gets the gig will be able to get as much time with the team training as poss before the Villa game.

On another note, I really hope we don't end up with Gabor Kiraly and his pajama bottoms!

Excellent point mate, we want to protect our young players when possible, hopefully City will be able to get a more experinced goalkeeper in, if not then we will just have to get behind the lad, even if he makes a few dodgy mistakes.

Thats the point, right now we havnt got a keeper for the bench, we obviously need 1, but Gunnar as our keeper for me, if he cocks up get behind him we just have to score more goals than the opposition in 3 games......easy
We have David González Giraldo! He's 27 and has 1 cap for Columbia! He can't be any good like, but thought i'd mention him!
He's injured too!
