The best junior competition in Gtr Manchester is the East Manchester Junior League and clubs like Everton, Burnley and Stoke scout it fairly extensively

We are Trafford and Cheshire and it's just all United girls.

I've watched their under-12s against a boys team and they never gave the lads a kick.

They train twice a week, and it showed.

And this does piss me off.

My 11-year-old daughter scored the only goal recently to win the Cheshire version of the Champions League, scored 32 goals last season.

She is dynamite and United invited her to Carrington. She scored a hat-trick with her City shirt on.

Last week I had to take her to the Mancunian Suite at Old Toilet (shabby as fuck) for a presentation - again in her City shirt - and they were asking again about taking her.

It's a very difficult decision, she is raised to hate them and even took the United foundation ribbon off her winners' medal, as they were the Cup sponsors.

City don't seem to even bother with scouts and it's killing me, because I won't allow her to not realise her talents.

She's a left winger and has all the skills. She is booked on a City soccer school this summer and we hope that will be enough to wake someone the fuck up.

City are very lazy at that level, which is mad when you think how much they invest in the senior ladies.

At the end of last season I think @FantasyIreland pointed out the lowly finish, I think it was 13th out of 14 teams of the City girls academy in the league - united won it. It is very strange the way City appear to take so little interest in this area. I wonder if they have rested on their laurels of just buying in players and not bothered moving forward. Now that united have a women's team their junior players have somewhere to go at senior level. If City values the women's team it needs addressing.

I don't think we can hold out much longer pal, she is off to high school this summer and will be attending Ashton On Mersey school, the same one United send all their kids to.

Even the fucking PE teacher at the open day watched her smashing pens away with her Doc Martins on and asked if she already played for United?

It's getting desperate.

Let her go there and develop her game mate, then pull a reverse Giggs/Charlie McNeil when they’re convinced she’s theirs

That's grim. You can't really stand in her way and as much as it will cause her grief she has to do what is best for her enjoyment of the sport.

I have just asked my United mate about him, his lad is pals with him and plays in same team at Everton, Jacob Beaumont-Clark.

Jacob plays for England schoolboys and has just signed scholar forms.

Everton are gutted about Emilio after putting in plenty of work with him.

My mate said he will be on a decent package going to City but be worth it, he's a top talent.

People shouldn't underestimate how proactive Everton are in Manchester and the surrounds.

They know they have to work twice as hard and even set up satellite training nights in Manchester for their kids from the area.

My mate's lad was released by United but Everton take chances on kids all the time.

I remember when my lad was about seven and playing at an indoor tournament near the Trafford Centre, they came to ask his age and had their people at all the games.

Everton threw the kitchen sink & then the contents of the bathroom at him too. The family swooned at the all the attention. He made great friends at Everton, so that made the boy's preference the Toffees.

If he was my child, from a logistic & progression level I'd have told him to exchange numbers with the boys at Everton & stay in touch on his PlayStation & social media etc, but you're signing for City.

I suspect those around him wish they'd taken that approach when the opportunity was originally there. City don't seem to push the boat out for anyone.

Potential academy scholars must want City as much as City want them. This is the same policy we have with transfer targets & players already at the club.

Looking at the success across all age groups, it seems City have got it right. Mentality is as important to City as talent, & it seems to be paying us dividends.

It doesn't quite add up does it. You'd think we'd be all for it with the amount of investment in infrastructure with the CFA etc. The appointment of Jayne Ludlow as girls academy director was a good one on the face of it but the focus seems to be on the u16 level (from the outside looking in).

My daughter's not at the level yet (both in age and ability) for anyone to take note but we've got friendly with other parents who we bump into at tournaments etc. who have future superstar girls, and they all say the rags is the place to be (shudder). I know they have just taken on at least one mad city fan at u10 age group and have offered another girl who's family are big Liverpool fans the chance to train with an older age group for a year just to get her signed up when the time comes.

It's up to you as a family tolm, but if it was me, I'd have her at the rags (wearing her city skins underneath the kit of course). You never know, if we get our act together in the future, I'm sure the powers that be would love an opportunity to poach a die hard City fan from the rags.

They don't care about building the local fanbase, so why would they bother about investing in under 12 girls football?

You would not believe the amount of girls with City tops on at training nights throughout Trafford each week, all idolising City and England players :(

It's just not on their radar.

But we have a women's team that has been heavily invested in. They have also heavily invested in the boy's academy. Surely, if united train twice a week City can. I wouldn't expect nightly sessions but when the women's team was launched I took it for granted that there would be a girls academy. The club will find it hard to build up now if united are so far ahead. It will be the reverse of male football whereby everyone wants City, in girls it will be united. What a pity to fall asleep at the wheel. They had so much time to sort it too.

Yep, you snooze, you lose.

United are smart, they sponsor the Cup competitions through their foundation, so have a visible presence at that level.

Rapid, technical, skillful, energetic with endurance & physical if he needs to be. The kid's got it all mate. He now just needs to realise it on a bigger stage.
