Empty seats.. worsening trend?

Why not change all the seats in the lower tiers to navy or black , dont show up so much on the telly , and use all the light blue ones up in the new extension ?

We'd get the piss taken out of us so much for that haha, 'if you can't fill a seat, just hide it instead!'

It really isn't the end of the world having a few empty seats, but the club does need to look at a productive way to resolve this issue in the long term.

6 seats directly behind me in 142 were empty yesterday, and all of them are seats of season ticket holders that go regularly

The mascot with the mental mohawk ended up sitting in one of the empty seats with his Mum

Sick and fuckin tired of the stick the family stand gets all the fuckin time .why not just ban under 40s out of the ground and have done !! .why don't people have a look at yesterdays match and see its whole blocks and rows that were empty fuck all to do with people not turning up.if its such a big embarresment to some precious fuckers ask city to shift the complimentary or whatever they are up to the stand up armfolder ultra end

The stick that the family stand get is because that's where the most empty seats appear to be. This happens game after game except for the usual "big matches" and even then there are some empty seats.
What I'm sick and fucking tired of is the people who buy season tickets and don't turn up for most games.
The argument against this is as some have mentioned already, that if you own a season ticket then you can use it as you please. Which is of course their absolute right.
But surely, a true supporter would be present at every match possible barring the odd unforeseen circumstance? As the OP posted the empty seats are often in the same areas.
I couldn't give a flying fuck if we have empty seats in the ground. But if I did I would be asking questions about the family stand first!

OK I confess me and the kids took rolls of black netting with us yesterday and covered up blocks of seats !

If your missing most midweek games and 5:30 kick offs then that's quite a few matches your missing and perhaps you should forgo the season ticket and just buy for the games your actually going to. If you've had the ticket for donkeys years then youll have the loyalty points to pick and choose anyway. Why waste yr money and the seat?

Partly sentiment, partly the difficulty in getting tickets for big games without a season card, partly the knowledge that not having a season card will disincentivise me from attending games, partly because the cost of tickets for individual games is now so exorbitant that the season card is still (just about) a viable option.

Understandable reasons and if your travelling 250 miles to home games then I've got nothing but respect for you as a supporter. Just highlights how complex the issue is. Does need a resolution though... Of the 'big clubs' we are the only one that consistently has rows of empty seats right behind the most televised/photographed area of the ground - northstand goal. Its horrendous PR.

There've been a fair few empties on my last 2 or 3 visits to Arsenal, but that aside I have to agree with you.

In respect of the North Stand, I'd venture this is a real area of concern for the club, because we have one of the oldest demographics of any of the teams in the Premier League, and we really need to be cementing a match going fan base amongst the younger generation, and if we can't do it now with the greatest team we've ever had, we never will. That we're demonstrably failing to do this suggests that the reduced prices in the Family Stand are not 'reduced' enough. This year the club introduced a new 18-21 category, which drew some of the sting for me personally as my lads are 19 and 16, but they're both in full time education and ain't got two ha'ppenies to rub together. Next year will be our last in the Family Stand, but instead of graduating to adult season cards, they'll be jacking it in as like many youngsters in 'zero hours' contracts Britain, they just won't be able to afford it. One solution might be to drop prices for the under 25's to allow people to become established earners, but regrettably I just can't see that happening.

City are in something of an adversely unique position as regards empty seats though, because Spurs, Everton and West Ham all have grounds too small for their natural fan bases, Chelsea and the Arse benefit from the London tourist market (I couldn't believe the number of overseas 'fans' at Stamford Bridge the last time I went there - attending a Premier League match much as they might a West End show), and the dippers and the rags have 20000 armchair supporters available to take up the slack whenever the locals get priced out of proceedings. City have none of those failsafes available to them......not that that would cut any ice with retards like Chiles and Camelgob anyway!

I agree with poster above it sounds like, your just wasting your money tbh. Why not lend it to someone who can attend more and use your ticket when you can't. I know lots of people who would love to go. Just an idea btw.

It does frustrate me, when the game says sold out and I can't get a ticket, to then see on the TV loads of empty seats especially the family stand.

For most games there are tickets on sale right up until the day before, and even some of the biggies eventually go on open sale, so I haven't got a great deal of sympathy for the "I couldn't get a ticket" anthem. The fact that you say you often can't get one though, is precisely the reason I keep the season card going. I've been watching City live for about 35 years, I went to Wycombe, Colchester, Northampton and a variety of other shitholes, and now that the tables have turned, I've loved going to the big games. I've been to Lokeren, Schalke, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Ajax, Munich twice, Barcelona, 2 FA Cup semi finals, 2 FA cup finals, and a Capital One Cup final, and without a season card I'd have probably missed out on the whole damned lot. Fuck that for a game of soldiers!

As you are season card holders like ourselves in the north stand have you any idea what city would have been charging your lads on a match by match basis ? Would £30 + surprise you and £27 for a 5 year old shock you ?
The reason I ask is I was talking to a mate who has had a season card since the move and he had no idea what city are up too match ticket wise

I was only aware of adult prices having had to upgrade my youngest lad's card a couple of times, but £27 for a 5 year old is ridiculous, and undoubtedly prices like that are part of the problem

i have an idea which i'm going to email the club about, all seats should be fitted with an inflatable manikin type doll and when a seat is not sold they get activated and blown up at the press of a button, we could have lady ones and men and kids, smiling ones and sad ones, if we can get some technology behind it we could make them clap a tune

There should be a clause for season ticket holders .if they dont attend 80 % of the games .they cant renew the year after .let someone have it who will attend
