Interesting slant on our Youth Academy and Emyr Huws in particular

Seems to have been written by someone with no clue on anything about our academy given how many things are factually wrong with it.

Anybody see Vieira' s comments on Emyr huws in an interview with Phil Cadden in the Sunday Mirror
Obviously thinks highly of the lad .
Vieira says of his Captain
" Emyr is a real special talent. For him to play 15minutes for the first team was a fantastic experience for him.
In the past,he's been training with the first team and he can smell that. He's really good technically , but he,s at the time where he needs to challenge himself. The next step for him is to believe in himself more. I always ask him to watch Busquets play for Barcelona because I believe he is as good as him technically.
" He is really comfortable on the ball but he needs to be a bit more aggressive because you have to be as a No 6.
Football -wise, he can play because he is really good on the ball.
He has worked really hard because he has had injuries, but now he is at his best and has got rewarded by playing with the first team. "

Vieira also believes his temporary loan move to St Andrew's will really benefit him in impressing Pellegrini in the long run.

He's got to become sharper all round in order to make our 1st team squad & stay there I think. Also more dominant in the air. He's a big lad for a midfield player. In the thick of the Championship, is not a bad place to learn all that.

The problem is, if Vieira as he says, wants him to be like Busquets he isn't really going to fully blossom in that role at Birmingham, or many Championship clubs. La Liga would be great for him, shame is that there's the language etc. I do agree though he's going to need another year on loan before we can truly see whether or not he could play for us.

The lad just scored a goal in a 3-3 draw against Burnley. I reckon that was his first at a senior level, was it?

Possibly he is developing into our most successful loan in recent years, made up for the lad.

Blues 2 (Huws 69) Burnley 2. A wonder strike from the Welsh whizzkid Emyr Huws finds the bottom right corner! YESSSSS #bluesLIVE

sounds like a good'un.

"But it was certainly not game over as Blues found themselves right back in it with a second goal through on-loan Manchester City midfielder Emyr Huws. And what a strike it was as Huws blasted home an absolute peach of a volley from 25-yards out."

Wish we had a brummie fan about to give us a bit more in depth analysis of the kid rather than the bits and pieces we pick up from the press.
