Encountering City players / staff in everyday life

One of my 2015 highlights was meeting Kolarov in a City centre coffee shop. I transformed from focused professional to giggly schoolgirl in a heartbeat. Swoon.

Met Mancini in 2012 just before the Derby where they didn't have a shot on goal. Like to think of myself as a lucky charm.

I met Mario falling out of Panacea one night (him, not me).

Professionally I've worked with Andy Hill, Keith Curle, Sir Franny and unfortunately GPC.

I also sat next to Roy Keane on a flight once. Luckily it was only Manchester to Dublin so 45 minutes.

And let's not forget, they all met Prestwich Blue that night! Actually, I'm delighted to say I've met PB on several occasions and enjoy your writing (especially in KK). Always interesting. The launch was Aug 2012 and it was a great night. I tried to get a mix of former players/celebrities/fans who have helped me along the way, so thanks to all who came.

As for meeting players in ordinary surroundings.... I've met a few, but there's a couple of my dad's meetings that really show how life was for footballers after their careers ended in the 60s. My dad went to renew his car insurance in early 60s and was served by Ken Barnes at a city centre insurance brokers. My dad's called Paul (James) and was a lorry driver (as was City's great capt Roy Paul when his career ended). Ken kept talking about Roy Paul being a lorry driver etc. and was happy to talk about football. When my dad got home and checked the insurance certificate Ken had written his name as "Roy Paul" not Paul James. Dad had to go back and get it sorted.

While delivering to a brewery in Oldham my dad used to meet Jack Dyson who worked there. His happiest meeting was when he arrived at the brewery around lunch time and Jack and the others were having an impromptu game of cricket and my dad joined in.

I was very honoured to be there, what a brilliant occasion it was & what a brilliant read. It was like a who's who of City at the NFM that night.

None City: Ex Bury Leeds Utd and Sunderland player,Wayne Entwistle i know him quite well, he tells some great stories about his playing days

Oh and my current boss is Graham Bell who played shit loads for Oldham Athletic as did his Dad

Loads but most recently Vinny and Buzzer getting off the train at Euston before Arsenal last month. Both in awe of my little boys blonde hair, he's only 3 and doesn't really get the whole football thing yet. Vinny said he's been taking his girls for years to watch their own Dad and they still aren't interested!

I met Didi Hamann in the Kitchen at Our Kid's house.

Was introduced to Dennis Tueart at the offices I once worked at in Frodsham.

Used to quite often see Franny Lee in a pub near Dean Row on Saturday lunch times. Also sat next to him at a Swindon away game.

I've been in the Players' Lounge at City a few times but does that count as everyday?

Met Buzzer, Marwood and David Bernstein in Directors' Lounge at Fulham; hardly surprising encounters in the circumstances. What was a surprise was bumping into Marwood going through Immigration at Newark Airport (before NYC FC was known about).

Seen several footballers from other clubs doing everyday things e.g. Martin Keown filling his car; Charlie Nicholas catching the tube; Frank Worthington going to a gig at the Apollo; several England players backstage at a Kiss gig at Wembley in 1980; Giggs driving through Alderley; Some keeper that didn't last at Rags dining at the Alderley Edge Hotel while SAF was drinking in the lounge.

Here's a classic, met Eike Immel when he crashed his car into my mum's whilst we were on the way to the shops in Bramhall.

Haha

Thaksin in Chinese or was it Thai restaurant many years ago, asked staff if it would be ok to go and say hello, got told no, had a few drinks, went anyway, he was very gracious and his "advisor" gave me his business card and said if ever I was in Thailand to give him a call. Think I lost the card before I left the restaurant !
