End of Season Party vs Arsenal?!

The issue is that our team should have been organised in a way that showed some respect to Southampton. Playing 442 was an utter disgrace on Pellers part and his steadfast refusal to even consider any of our other youth players in this game is typical of his attitude. We needed 5 in midfield not 4 and playing with 10 men is a given everytime Donkey plays.

Prioritising the CL is not really the issue. Problem yesterday was the performance from those players was simply not good enough. Pellegrini should have rested certain players more often this season, but he has criminally overplayed one or two (Silva & Kompany). He also has not used certain players (Kelechi) enough, preferring his favourites. Some of those players who played against Chelsea in the FA Cup had far more hunger and would put some of the first team squad to shame. I'm hoping that at least two of yesterdays team never wear a blue shirt again.

How can you say that two players (Vinny and Silva) who have been riddled with injuries all season have been overplayed? Makes no sense to me. Both players have been totally unreliable due to their injury issues. I don't recall any moment where I thought "oh, Silva needs a rest" or "oh Vinny needs a rest". Quite the opposite most of the season has been about wondering when they'll actually be fit enough to perform in the league.

I agree Kelechi could've played more. But that's it. Our EDS doesn't have players of the required standard to be stepping in and taking the place of a senior player. It sets totally the wrong tone if you're basically giving players who aren't up to it a chance in the first team and leaving guys getting paid 50k minimum a week on the bench.

When I say that we've prioritised the CL, i can only base that on what I see with my eyes. Our CL performances have been better organised, more disciplined, more intelligent, than anything we've done in the league. That isn't about preparation because we prepare for all games tactically in the same way. It's about the performance of the players on the day.

I'll bet against that.

We'll never know for sure, but judging by our collective performances in both competitions I'd say it's pretty obvious to me that there was enough of a difference in the performances that the word was coming from higher up. Otherwise how do you explain the different intensity levels the different levels of tactical discipline etc. If it's purely the players who've decided this then some of them, including some of our stars, should be fucked off.

Personally I think with two PL titles in three years but little European progress it would be natural to assume an ownership like ours would want to see some European success now too. I also think that the ownership aren't stupid enough to assume that the 'squad' is good enough. We have a best XI to rival anyone, but anytime you need a bit of rotation we end up with players like Kolarov, Delph, Bony, etc.

For the moment the conversation is moot. United didn't win yesterday so we still have things in our own hands. Confidence or lack of it is subjective amongst us. I'm STILL confident that we will get past Madrid and then beat Arsenal. The players will know that that win secures CL football. And it won't be our B team out against Arsenal.

He just about deserves a send off! But he must look back at his time with us and think if I would have been more clever and grew a pair of balls and stood up to the players I could have won a lot more! For me he should have won all 3 league titles and a fa cup

Fully agree. Although I think that he simply shouldn't have placed so much trust in so many senior players when he arrived. We rewarded too many players because of Pellegrini's first title win when we should've been thanking them and sending them on their way.

Anyway this summer will feel like a proper page turning moment. Hell it's going to feel like the end of a book and the beginning of a new one.

It is the end of an error.
Quite literally.

I disagree fundamentally. I'll bet you whatever you want Pellegrini was under instruction from the higher ups to prioritise the CL at every step this season, including yesterday.
So you think Soriano & Begiristain, with the clear agreement of Khaldoon, said "Look Manuel. We're not bothered about finishing in the top 4 as long as you put up a really decent showing in the CL. So if you want to play weakened teams in the league, that's OK with us as long as you deliver a semi-final or final in the CL".

You're insane if you think that conversation or one like it took place. That would be something worth discussing in the podcast!

If he isn't clapped away against arsenal then we should all be fucking ashamed.

Complete unforgiving act of cowardness is not giving the man even the most basic of decency, but I know if you're already planning to be silent like a stubborn child throwing a pathetic temper tantrum then a post on an internet forum isn't going to change your mind.

He couldn't even be arsed giving a kid city supporter an autograph at an antiques fair a few weeks back ! Bet that kid felt pretty crap stood there after getting knocked back by the "uncharming man"
