End of Season Party vs Arsenal?!

How the fuck can you sit there and say that he hasn't had the chance to build anything when over £200 million has been spent under his reign. He's not exactly been backed like Remi Garde was at Villa has he?

If the manager has seen his arse about being a stop gap when he knew from day one what was happening then he shouldn't have took the job in the first place. He knew the score and any amount of saying that he has been hard done by is just papering over the cracks. For two seasons our domestic form has not been good enough.

The players have been poor this season. There is no doubt about it. But a lot of them have been let down by the managers tactics and that is the reason why we have been collectively shit domestically. Playing Delph left wing, Demichellis in a high line, Yaya or Fernando in a 2 man midfield and asking Bony to do the same job as Kun are all examples of how the players have been let down.

It's patently obvious that Yaya's legs have gone. It's not a matter of him not trying, it's that he physically cannot do what he could 2 years ago. Demichellis is the same. But not once this season has any adaptions to the squad been made for them.

Nothing about my criticisms of Pellegrini are knee jerk. It's based on us repeating the same mistakes over and over again and getting outplayed on numerous occasions by average sides.

All the signings haven't been for a pellegrini team, that is painfully obvious to anyone that understands football

Honest question - are you just trying to vandalise the thread?

You can understand the meaning of his comment - Pep is arriving - done deal - but the poster has the class to be able to thank the current manager. There are lots of other threads for you to bang on about your dislike of Pellers

Not at all.

I used that phrasing as I wanted an actual discussion over Pellegrini. It's obvious that I don't rate him and I've said as much on here but that doesn't mean that I don't want to listen to people who do. It's interesting to find out why opinions differ so much.

The point isn't could he, should he have done better. The point is should a manager that has been with us for 3 years, won a league , 2 cups, got us to at least a c/ l semi final possibly better, be treated with respect and be thanked in his last home game. If you can answer no to that then our fans have changed in the last few years and not for the better.

Our worst performances haven't come either side of CL games either so it totally nullifies your argument.

Some of our stars should be fucked off, just like the manager is being fucked off. The reason we have done well in the CL is because that has always been the time when he has picked the team and formation that the majority of supporters have been crying out for in league matches. But instead, in the league he continues to play Bony, play Delph on the left, or a two man immobile midfield or picking fucking MD.

Pellegrini has prioritised CL as he knew he was off next season and he wished to pursue his own agenda and further his CV.

You've actually made my point inadvertently. You're right, poor league performances haven't come either side of CL games because the problem wasn't fitness it was mentality. The players weren't arsed about the fight for the PL and basically fucked off any match they went behind in. The argument that Pellegrini has personally prioritised the CL to further his own agenda is muck raking nonsense IMO. The players have prioritised the CL and that shows in THEIR performances. The manager doesn't go on the pitch and perform, and his preparation for all matches is generally equal.

He is a fair man and deserves a decent applause but my god we have not progressed under him. City fans will give him a good send off of course we will.

The last 3 seasons we have signed two players who have advanced the squad . Kdb and dinho. The rest have Been left wanting. Or rather were good but when this coaching team have got hold of them have gone to shit. I even remember watching bony and thinking my god he is strong and a good player.

We have been obsessed with pep and that has hung heavy not just over manuel but the club. These last 3 years we could have been so much better but it's been all about pep . We now could have pep and no champions league. I want us to do it I really do and I hope we get to Milan. Imagine if we do get there even the harshest critic of manuel will stand and applaud against arsenal. What else could you possibly do? That would be a very good achievement.

I reckon he will end up Everton manager for some reason.

I think he deserves a good send off for a variety of reasons. One being that he is MCFC's manager and & our fans can show class in their appreciation. Whether he has done a good job is a different topic.

What does a Pellegrini team look like though?

He never really got the chance at Madrid to put his stamp on things and from what little I watched of Malaga they were a very organised outfit, especially in the CL.

I'd say we've never really looked like a fully organised side under Pellegrini. Also, I'd say that Navas, Negredo, Demichellis and Willy were all Pellegrini players and I'd be shocked if we signed players who Pellegrini had no intention of wanting or playing. I remember when we got Sinclair when Mancini didn't want him, he refused to play him and basically said in his press conferences that he never wanted him. I know they are two totally different characters but it would be more logical to suggest that the reason why he keeps persevering with Bony over Kelechi is because he wanted Wilf in the first place.

I'd agree that KDB and Sterling were both signed with Pep in mind. However, when you get offered to chance to coach top class players then you take it. I seem to remember Pellegrini going on record last season and saying that he rated Sterling very highly.

Kind of speaks volumes when you compare both Mancini and Pellegrini's starting point at City.

Mancini inherited a top 4 squad which was underachieving then failed in his first season to get us into the top 4. Compare the Spurs side that beat us to that spot. He also inherited a side in the semi final of a cup and then we choked on that one too. The following summer we signed the likes of Silva and Toure. Yet the following season all we had to show for it was an FA Cup. What had been spent on the squad at that point? Any guesses? Was it a disgrace that we didn't mount a title challenge. Hell Mancini bought Dzeko in January on the premise that Edin would make the difference.

Anyone trying to make the Mancini v Pellegrini argument is going to lose. Both managers were of a similar level and achieved similar things. Pellegrini's progress in Europe probably gives him the edge but it's really marginal and not worth talking about unless we win the damn tournament.

Ok - then - read back your own words and then read the OP - you are on the wrong thread.

There are many threads on here where you can have your desired dialogue - this one is for a discussion on the send-off that the match-going fans are going to give Pellers during his last home game in charge.

It is good to hear that you are not intentionally vandalising the thread - but because you and others cannot leave this thread to its intended topic and drown it with your repeated views on the manager - that is what you are actually doing.

I want to discuss with match-going CITY fans just how we should behave on Sunday - perhaps discuss the timing of any thank you gestures etc. that is what the thread is for. So -politely - can you leave it to that or if I start another thread for that purpose - can you (and others) leave that one alone?
