Endoscopy without sedation

Why oh why didn't you take the sedative? After stupidly mentioning I had to have a camera up my snout down into my lungs to mates I was mercilessly told how much pain I'd be in and how it can all go tits up. By the time I got to the hospital I'd have took anything. Turns it wasn't that bad and I found it fascinating watching the screen seeing the inside of my own body. All on our brilliant NHS.

I am surprised they gave you the option of not having it,they give you sedation for a reason, either it is going to be painful or they need you to keep still

I hated it mate, even the anesthetic down before the camera. At least found out what was up and now on 7 tablets a day so worth the discomfort

I've had the camera down my throat twice now without sedation. Just a quick spray of anaesthetic at the back of the throat beforehand, then the camera down. Not very pleasant, invoking the gag reflex a couple of times, but no harm done. My late wife had sedation before her camera "down", as she found swallowing very difficult (no innuendo meant).

Just don't do it.

I wish i had taken the sedative option, definitely the worst 10 minutes of my life.

FFS Daz are you utterly fucking mental?????

And I hate to think which 'end' they put the scope!

If it didn't hurt, they wouldn't offer sedation!

I think with all the deliberate misinformation I was given by piss taking old blokes plus going on the internet for medical advice I could hardly sleep the night before. Bricking it pal. Had the sedative and can't really remember much else other than the telly. No bother compared to having a swab were the doc puts a cotton bud looking thing down your japs eye. That made me cry.
