If Cole, Carrick and Smalling go to the World Cup I am simply not watching.

Cole has hardly played this season and for me seeing as though Shaw is in the PFA team of the year and the fact he has had a better season than Cole he should go.

Carrick and Smalling have been awful for United this season, if Carrick goes over Barry then that would be an injustice.

Take your form players Roy, not names.

after 37 (or so) games, my starting 11 would be -

Hart
Johnson-Cahill-Jagielka-Baines
Henderson-Gerrard-Barry
Rooney-Sturridge-Sterling

my back up 11 would be -

Foster
Clyne-Dann-Stones-Shaw
Carrick-Lampard
Lallana-Barkley-Welbeck
Lambert

Joe Hart
Ben Foster
*Ruddy

Glen Johnson
Kyle Walker
Leighton Baines
Ashley Cole (fresh!)
Chris Smalling
Micah Richards (fresh!)
Gary Cahill
Phil Jagielka

Steven Gerrard
Gareth Barry©
Ross Barkley
Jack Wilshere
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
*Llanna
James Milner
R Sterling (win fks)

Wayne Rooney
Daniel Sturridge
Rickie Lambert

People still with a chance:

Kieran Gibbs
Luke Shaw
Wilfried Zaha
Theo Walcott*
Sidwell*
Puncheon*
Delph

I believe England s best chance would be to balance on young and old players.

You're not watching a whole WC just because three squad players get picked for one team?

-------------------Hart--------------
Johnson--Cahill--Jagielka--Shaw
----Henderson--Gerrard-----
Sterling-----Barkley---Lallana-----
---------------Rooney--------------

Plus:

Foster
Forster
Jones
Lescott
Cole
Barry
Milner
Wilshere
Chamberlain
Welbeck
Sturridge
Lambert

I think Woy will make the right calls this summer and drop those who have been in the squad despite underperforming. The trouble is because of versatility Smalling/Jones may have to go. I think it is a bit too soon for Stones at CB which is a shame because from what I have seen of him he is a much better bet than Jones or Smalling but that's life...

The 23 that I think will go (different to the ones I would take);

Hart, Foster, Forster

Cole, Baines, Jagielka, Cahill, Jones, Smalling, Walker, Johnson

Gerrard, Henderson, Wilshere, Lallana, Barkley, Oxlaide-Chamberlain, Milner, Sterling

Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Lambert

I think he will make the right calls and leave Lampard and Carrick behind. There is no point as they cannot keep pace with the game at International level, and neither can Barry. Because of the abundance of forward thinking creative players I think a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 in the Liverpool style is most suited to England. Gerrard, Henderson and Wilshere can play centrally - you have Lallana, Barkley, Sterling, Rooney and Oxlaide who are all capable of creating play from central areas - all but Rooney can also do a job wider if required. Sturridge should be the focal point. My first 11 would be;

--------------------Hart
Johnson---Cahill---Jagielka---Baines
-------------Gerrard--Henderson
Sterling--------Rooney--------Barkley/Lallana
-----------------Sturridge

Joe Hart
Ben Foster
John Ruddy

Glen Johnson
Kyle Walker (if fit), if not then John Flanagan.
Leighton Baines
Luke Shaw
Chris Smalling
Phil Jones
Gary Cahill
Phil Jagielka

Steven Gerrard
Adam Lallana
Ross Barkley
Jack Wilshere
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
James Milner
Raheem Sterling
Jordan Henderson

Wayne Rooney
Daniel Sturridge
Rickie Lambert
Danny Welbeck

That's who I'd take, for me there's no chance we win this world cup, so it's more important to take younger players with a future in an England shirt than those who have time and time again fallen short. However I don't think Hodgson will do that, I fully expect him to have Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole in his squad, at the expense of Luke Shaw and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He may well also have Michael Carrick in there instead of Jordan Henderson.

I believe England s best chance would be to balance on young and old players.

Walcott is missing the start of next season, so doesn't have a hope of going to the World Cup.

My final squad is -

GK - Hart, Foster, Forster
DF - Johnson, Clyne, Cahill, Jagielka, Tomkins, Davies, Baines, Shaw
MF - Henderson, Gerrard, Barry, Carrick, Barkley, Osman
FW - Rooney, Lallana, Sturridge, Lambert, Sterling, Welbeck

Starting 11 -

Hart
Johnson-Cahill-Jagielka-Baines
Henderson-Gerrard-Barry
Rooney-Sturridge-Sterling

I tried to pick a team but as soon as I realised that Johnson is the best English RB I just gave up in despair. Hope England fans didn't shell out too much cos we're coming home on the first plane.
