I'm sorry but SWP and Joe Cole shouldn't be going ahead of Adam Johnson, it is a very poor decision to leave him out.

Generally managers will prefer experienced players for World Cups. AJ has his future ahead of him and I'm sure he'll be prominent in the Euro qualifiers.

Agree, it will be same old tried and tested 1st 11 that will stumble to the 1/4 finals before being knocked out. Nothing new or brave about the squad he has chosen

Johnson wasn't in a fight with SWP, Lennon and Walcott. If he got into the squad it would have been as a left sided midfielder and not a right hand side one. Joe Cole is a quality player who has played at the top level for a while now. I would put Joe Cole into the first 11 let alone the squad.

I think most of us would accept that Cole is ahead of Johnson, but is there really any need for Lennon, SWP AND Milner for the right handside????

I will guarantee you now that one of those will not even see a minute of this tournament, so it's a complete waste not to take natural cover for the left.

It seems to me that this squad was picked before the friendlies. Capello gave AJ no time to show what he can do because it would probably have caused him a headache had AJ put in a stellar performance. You can bet your bottom dollar that Englands 2 left sided players are Cole and Gerrard and was Capello ever going to put himself in a position where public opinion was so strong for AJ that he would have had to drop either one of them?
