They appear to be absolutely desperate for him to be this immense world class defender, and if they say it enough they'll convince the whole world! If he gives the ball away or finds himself out of position ( which is a regular occurrence ) they just gloss over it. If he does something average they sugar coat it. He's a decent player nothing more nothing less. I've only heard Souness dare to challenge the propaganda. He didn't have the courage to fully commit and say what he truly thought, just a subtle ''Great players don't need to fly off their feet''

Look at the Irish, bloody loving it tonight, supporting there team like they always do. Us English fans just sit there moaning, slag off anyone we can name, carricks shit, johnsons shit bla blah... I find it sad English fans want there own country to lose so they can slag them off even more. We're a decent team, we hardly ever lose. Why not just support your country whether there shit or not.

The difference is that the Irish fans support Ireland and all the Irish players. The English fans are City fans who support City fans and hate the rag players, the rag fans hate the City players , the Everton supporters hate the Liverpool players etc. There's no real unity. The entire of Ireland gets behind Ireland. England might if things are going well but the slightest thing goes wrong and it's the Chelsea players fault or the City players fault etc.
There's no real unity and if we could unite just a bit more we might do a bit better.

Yep that's a good point mate. Also enough people slag them off people start believing it and just jump on the Anti England bandwagon, it's a lot easier to slag them off then forget we actually play against an opposition who are playing there heart out as we're a massive scalp.

Fans of the top clubs are fucking right dicks. All they(/we) do when it comes to England is moan and slag off all players from their rivals and teams they don't like. It's boring, predictable and bitter. There was a game about two years ago (Switzerland away) that had seven City players on the pitch at once and all that was being said on here was "I hope England lose". City fans would rather Hart Lescott Richards Barry Milner Wright-Phillips and Johnson would have left that pitch as losers just because Ferdinand, or whoever, was playing. It's quite sad to be honest.

Technically miles behind most of the worlds top sides.
I'd rather support a load of kids playing with a coach who wasn't inept and up the 'big players' arses and just fucked off the old guard (golden generation my arse), than this bunch of prima donnas.
