England threatened with expulsion from Euros they are hosting

A month ago the PL would have been very happy with this intervention by UEFA, as it backs up their claim that football can govern itself, but Nick de Marco/Leicester City have shown that their rules can be picked apart.

The UEFA letter mentions that governance should be by the FA, the problem with that is over the past few decades the FA now only really look after the national teams/grassroots football etc, where the PL/EFL/National League are governing their own leagues.

Be interesting how this plays out, as the selling point of the IFR was to stop the larger clubs breaking away to form a SL and rogue owners so another Bury can't happen again.
Uefa / fifa have a strict no politics policy. Allows them to shrug there shoulders at the blatant corruption around the world.

Arseholes.

It would appear here that the actual problem here is that the international football regulators are as corrupt as f*ck and don't want any outsiders interfering and discovering this - and using the 'political angle' as representing an even greater threat than their internal threat! EIther way, we as fans are royally f**ked because the third leg of this are the money grabbing clubs who are in turn driven by the money grabbing players and their festering limpetlike agents who are in turn driven by the eye watering sums of money that broadcasters will pay to televise games. Ultimately its all Sky's fault, so there!

It's a turf war!

FIFA/UEFA simply don't want anyone else muscling in on their very lucrative operations

We all know that FIFA & UEFA operate without the slightest whiff of corruption (cough) so why would governments need to get involved.

Love it, G14 scare mongering, quick vote do you trust politicians more than the PL.
FIFA threatened to kick out any team that had government interference a good few years ago. there is no chance that they would go up against a Government regulator who was stamping out corruption or tax fiddling, too much to lose :)

You think?
They’ve kicked countries out several times.

They have, all poor/Arab/Asian nations where governments were going to take full control/ Dictatorships. Against a powerful/rich country with the full backing of other rich/powerful nations and UEFA, the threat is a typhoon in a tea cup, the G14/cartel is hyping up to stop a Government regulator, nothing more, a Government regulator may or may not put a stop to their shenanigans, but they are not taking that chance.

I've said it before on here but the one journalist I will listen too and take note of us Marrin Samuel's. He takes the totally opposite view to you. He highlights that throughout the wording of the act, the Government is put first. The primary concern is about the government and who it's trading partners are. The regulator and therefore the government, can decide who plays where, when and only against clubs they deem acceptable.
I was in favour of a regulator until I read his article.
