Barkley was a constant threat against Ecuador. Yes he will loose the ball on occasions but he has the ability to turn defenders & get into dangerous areas. I can't believe the negativity from Hodgson.

Ecuador are the weakest South American country in the World Cup and he didn't influence the game.

Are you sure you were watching the same game.

Yes. , Bench maybe but not quite a convincing performance to become a starter,

That quote just sums up Woy as a manager. Play it safe, use the old favourites, don't take any risks. It's why he failed at Liverpool and it's why we are so dull to watch. Barkley was one of the only players actually trying to make things happen. He lost the ball a few times, made a few bad decisions but he kept at it all game. Running at them, playing clever passes, taking shots, taking the game to the opposition, no fear. But of course Woy would rather have Wilshire who offered nothing at all. Suppose the only grace if we do go out in the groups is he gets fucked off.

Nothing to do playing it safe, He just got away with his touches against Ecuador but against Italy he will not be as lucky.

Yet he will play Wilshire and Rooney who gave the ball away a ton and one of which resulted in a goal for Ecuador.

It is down to the collective failure of England.

If he can turn it on in the premiership then I'm sure he can do the same against the likes of Italy.

Wilshere got bullied last night. Barkley will offer more agaisnt the slow Italians than Rooney.

barkley is a young exciting player, martinez allows him to be free and encourages him to try new things, at that age mistakes are part of the game. I can't believe what roy was saying, we may swell just play all defensive players. he said wish ire had a great game what was he watching ???

I'm sorry but with this backward typical english way of thinking- i.e. lets pick players based on work rate rather than ability we won't win anything
