Saka, bellingham, Foden can all bomb forward on a break

Kane needs to be told not to drop so deep

and the wing backs push up at every chance

i'd be tempted to go with that side
And it’ll lose as we’d be ‘bombing’ up the pitch chasing long balls and they’d all be fucked by half time. Stop worrying about France. Play to OUR strengths, good forward players who need the ball at feet not chasing it.

Walker- Stones- Maguire- Shaw
Rice————Phillips
Bellingham
Saka or Rashford Foden
Kane.

That will have them getting worried more than us allowing them to dictate and come at us.

Ffs they’ve Lloris in net!!!

Need to not fall into the trap in the Euros final where England went backwards and didn’t have an out ball to relieve pressure. Walker and Stones have come up against Mbappe a few times so will understand his game. Maguire worries me as he seems to step out to early leaving Stones exposed trying to tidy up after him.

You must be extremely hard to impress mate. Granted, City have managed to take care of him mostly when he's come up against us but dismissing him as an average player is all kinds of next level wrong.
I think it's his attitude and stuff too. He's arogant as we've seen with his basic takeover of PSG.

He also doesn't track back or work hard. He's same category as Neymar for me. Incredible talent, but doesn't work hard enough or has something that's going to hold him back from being one of the greats

Brave to play France without a keeper !

Thats how I see it.

I think England might actually be stronger than France, possibly have more options to change it aslong as Southgate is brave enough to see the danger and adapt.

It seems they lack the belief when it really matters to go and win the game.

If England beat France it'll give those players a huge confidence boost to believe they can actually win this World Cup.

Bottom two paragraphs are spot on.

I've been putting the blame on the manager for (especially) the euro final defeat as we were far too defensive.
We were hesitant to attack in a few games leading to that final too, preffering a system that wasnt creative,so it set the scene for what followed.

We have to respect Mbappe but identify how we can benefit from him being an all out attacking player. Kane has to drop deep, he's so effective at it and it leads to space in behind as a result. The best thing to do would be to force Mbappe deeper to defend by having Rice playing his side as defensive cover and Bellingham playing his side predominantly as an attacking midfielder. Look to overload the space in behind him which will exploit France and lead to Mbappe having to come deeper and defend more. We might see Griezmann used to counter that by filling in the space with him to take some defensive responsibility away but it's a system Steve Holland has talked about and he's experienced enough to work out a few ways of getting past France. For all the criticism of Southgate, Holland has worked with some of the best managers around as an assistant and they've done pretty well so far to come up with the right way to win a game.

If England do that them France can just switch to Dembele on the other side.
No doubt that the Mbappe/Walker match up is key to this game.
I said weeks ago that Walker will need to be at full fitness against the fast fuckers in later rounds. This game is the test.
