Mourinho did a really interesting piece on 4 at the back vs 3 at the back against Germany and it was worth reading if you want to kill 10 minutes before the match.

He points out that if you play 433 and stick wingers on Gosens/Kimmich then you've simply taken your wingers out of the game and they are gong to be too deep to help your striker.

If you stick fullbacks on them, they have to come incredibly high and wide, which leaves your 2 CB's spread apart and Germany's 3 forwards, Muller, Werner and Havertz have space and numbers over your CBs.

He was in favour of a man to man matching of the formation.


And you might not like him but he's one of the most succeful coaches in history.

Where the hell is the creativity going to come from, what a negative boring line up.

Phillips chipping the ball either for Kane to flick on or for Sterling and Saka to collect in the channels and hope they do something.

Portugal are shite,they have no cohesion whatsoever,nothing more than a team of talented individuals.....so i have no idea why you are constantly quoting them as a relevance.

I’m guessing that Kane will be used as a target man to flick balls into Sterling and Saka.
