England v Honduras

And they wonder why there are so few English players in the top sides around Europe.....

Would have been better served practising packing their bags for 90 mins for the early trip home yet again.

It's scary that the best that England can offer played against a second rate Honduras team who only had 10 men for nearly a third of the game and yet failed to test the keeper or even managed a single shot on target.

On the other hand don't we see that kind of thing happen all the time in domestic football? City on paper should beat Wigan but we did not on two big occasions for example, people are treating football as an exact science with predictable results, if only that was the case the bookies would be out of business.

My biggest concern last might was how poor we were in possession, we didn't move the ball with any pace or ugency, it was so slow and tepid, however saying that, Sturridge and Lallana both should of scored. Unforgivable to miss those chances in the world cup.

There is absolutely no hope for this team with Woy at the helm. Liverpool fans detested him for his tactics and selection, he now seems to be trying to appease them very same fans.

Johnson is fucking dire, and teams are targeting England down the left hand side, Henderson is shocking, if something walks and runs like a duck, it's normally a duck, not an international footballer. Stevie slip on his arse G has just had his best season for years sat in front of the back four dictating the play, so Woy reverts him to the box to box player he was 10 years ago, knackered after half an hour.

Sturridge who I rate highly, has had the luxury of playing alongside a truly world class player in Suarez he is now being asked to play the same system with Danny fucking Wellbeck, a player so bad even his parents boo when his name is read out.

I watched Wilshire with interest last night, some fans saying he has been un-duly criticised, and I can safely see he hasn't, he just runs with the ball till he looses possession, falls over and repeats, it would help him if he put his boots on the right feet.

Finally, every media darlings favourite, the man who can do no wrong, the man who has carried the hopes of a nation at previous tournaments and failed miserably, the man who slagged his own fans for booing a truly woeful performance, the man who's hair is starting to resemble Arthur Scargill, the one and only Plain Looney. He got his huge pay rise at the scum and hasn't broken sweat since, when asked if England can deliver, he said no, but Harvey Nics can.

OK so what is the answer?
We've got Roy; the only English alternative at the time was 'Appy 'Arry the Spiv, and I don't think I could cope with that tax-dodging, brown paper envelope accepting (allegedly), rent-a-quote clown in charge even if his teams play attacking football.
Too many people moaned about Sven and Capello being foreign so who else could we have got? Personally I wouldn't mind a foreigner managing England, but the FA made it clear we'd be going for an English (though perhaps they could have meant British) coach to satisfy the xenophobic clowns in the media. Capello was hardly a good source of news on a quiet day as his English was so poor.
But the bottom line is coaching: We have far too few coaches with the top UEFA coaching qualifications. The nations with the most coaches per player are Spain, Portugal and Germany, and all three out perform us on a regular basis. One club chairman (while discussing Grag Dyke's latest lunacy) claimed it costs almost ten times as much to do certain high level coaching courses in this country as it does in other areas of Europe. This is why we fail at the top level.
We aren't crap; we usually qualify for the major tournaments and generally get out of the group, but that's our limit. Good organisation, hard work and 90 minutes of effort will only get a team so far. Those are the attributes often attached to teams that do well against more skilful opponents; but it's all we've got at the moment.
Fortunately club football in England is much bigger than the international game and we've got the best club.

It's all about getting miles in the tank, getting used to the climate.
It's actually cooler in brazil than miami, I seen enough last night and I got no worries about us over there.
We'll turn it on when we have to, no probs.

If you have watched a Hodgson side before then you know what to expect.

He will try not to lose and hope that the opposition get so frustrated that they make a complete cock up of it.

Will be no shots on target and no goals.

Don't sit at home and switch on believing that you are gonna see an attacking funfest. It ain't gonna happen

Shame as Henderson and Wellshit aside I think its an exciting squad and Sterling,Sturridge and Barkley could have a great World Cup if allowed to express themselves.Roy will bore us all shitless and we will go home and struggle to recall the whole thing.

My opinion for what it's worth....

Rooney is too fat to play anywhere other than centre forward, so either Woy plays him there or he should be left out.

Sterling has to start, it's too soon for Barkley to be starting games although he'd be the one to come on at 60 mins.

Wellshit shouldn't be anywhere near starting 11, decent legs though and could be useful bench player when need a headless chicken.

Johnson, well oh my, he really is utterly hopeless, but unfortunately we have no other option.

Woy should try out playing the scousers way, it'sour only chance, imo.

I would go with:

............................Hart...........................
Johnson........Cahill.........Jagielka........Baines
..........................Gerrard.........................
............Henderson..........Wilshere...............
........Lallana........Sturridge........Sterling.......

Other option, if Fathead is chosen, is to replace Lallana with him, and move Sturridge to side.
