England v Italy

-------------------Hart-----------------

Johnson--Cahill--Jagielka---Baines

Sterling--Milner--Gerrard---Lallana

-----------Rooney---Sturridge----------

And yes... it's fucking awful, but I really don't see any alternative.

In an ideal world, if we put all the gimmicks and bullshit aside.

-----------------Hart----------------------

Coleman--Terry--Cahill--Cole/Baines

---Milner--Gerrard---Sterling---

--------Barkley/Rooney------Sturridge--
---------------Lambert--------------

Quarter finals at least that.

One of those gimmicks being that Coleman is Irish

So we should play Sheamus Coleman at RB? Why not play Messi upfront with Ronaldo on the wing? Sterling in CM? Rooney and Sturridge as wingers? Horrifying

Thought we were the better team...

... Having said that, it was encouraging. Great peformance...

...Henderson looked very comfortable in the middle and is growing as an International footballer...

I'm definitely living in a parallel universe :-)

Were not gash but in fairness were getting one of our better players and playing him out of position.
Weve done it since the end of Italia 90.

In the days of old I could understand us playing the likes of Sinclair on the left because we had no left sided players but nowadays theres no ezcuse for playing players well ouot of position.

Rooney is a striker, he either plays up front or not at all.
Tim Sherwood was moaning about it this morning on Talkshite too. He said he had three England caps. The first one he played in his position and was fine, then Keegan stuck him on the left twice, he didnt excel and so he was dropped.

Paul Scholes retired from international football because he was so sick of being played on the left.

ITs pathetic. Its like Hodgson thinks 'we must play rooney but the striking positions are filled so we'll dump him on the left'
No Roy. If your gonna play your decent players then you must...MUST put them in their best position.

I never saw Zindane playing on the left for France, or Messi playing left wing for Argentina or Aguero, or Ozil or Eto etc etc etc
Its just fookin England and then we wonder why they play shit.

Heres something - take a pic, Rooney or Sturridge upfront - not in the hole but properly upfront in their best positions.

Pisses me off. We always stick out best players on the fookin left wing!

For Baines and Ashley Cole, this World Cup would have been their last one, so for me Hodgson should have taken the better of the two full backs and Luke Shaw

Shaw is the future for Englands LB position so I don't really see the need to take Baines when he isn't half the player Cole is

It's a shame they couldn't twist Terry's arm into another world cup, i think if we could build a solid foundation at the back then they would have allowed the younger attacking players to go out and flourish under no pressure

Hart...Johnson....Cahill.....Terry.....Cole.....Gerrard....Henderson....Sterling...Oxlaide Chamberlain....Rooney....Sturridge

Nurting some of the younger players in while keeping a solid back 4. Then onto the Euros we bring Shaw in and look at someone to replace Gerrard and Terry

Seriously? Well that's certainly news to me... Stuck with Johnson then.

4-4-fucking-2.

The XI against Uruguay should be:

Hart
Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines
Gerrard Milner
Sterling Lallana
Rooney
Sturridge

I dont wanna sound biased but Wilshere is very very over rated and Henderson isnt really that good. Could see a Gerrard/Milner partnership working.
