The most frightening thing about that line-up (apart from Rooney) is realising that that probably is the best back four from the current squad - and then going away and watching the chaos that occurs for Mario's goal, a straightforward cross to the back post and a free header while Cahill, Johnson and Jagielka try switching positions at the last minute.

It's actually quite laughable when you think about it, we have got three players in our back four that haven't played champions league football, perhaps Johnson has played a few times at Chelsea and Liverpool

Other than Luke Shaw, there's no one outstanding coming through. Jones may improve but we've fallen from the likes of Terry, Ferdinand, Campbell, Carragher.

Messi and co will be pissing themselves.

I think Cahill has got potential to be a top CB, especially if he carries on playing week in week out at Chelsea, in terms of age he is still only young for a CB

For me your fullbacks are probably more important than CB's, and at the moment id say we have never had worse full backs than we have right now, if you think back to G Nev/Cole, Parker/Pearce, fingers crossed if all goes well we will have Flanagan and Shaw for the next 10 years if they keep progressing

I guess the only potential at CB is Stones, he looks a real player but without being unfair, how much is he going to improve at Everton, i think he will move eventually to a top side and fingers crossed we will then have a back 4 that is all playing CL football and can play together for 7-10 years

Then we can start worrying about centre midfield haha

I thought that for the most part we played quite well; the problem is that where we are weak, we are really week:

- Hodgson: A better manager would have done something about our left-side, we were getting slaughtered there; I've heard/read a lot of people moaning about Baines but the poor guy was being overrun. A better manager would also have brought on players to stretch the Italian defence at 2-1 down, whereas Hodgson brought on more central players and made it even more congested.
- Right-back position: We all know how terrible Glen Johnson is, so no point rinsing that one. Its frightening that we have absolutely no alternative to him.
- Steven Gerrard: Christ almighty, he loves a long-ball, doesn't he? If we put a shirt on the corner flag he'd probably try to hit it. I lost count of the number of times he elected for a 40 yard pass when a 5 yard one would have sufficed. Not that I'm surprised, he's always been like that (works in 'kick and rush' style of the Premier League, but not at international level).
- Wilshere: Just a headless chicken

There were many occasions when we'd get a free-kick, the TV replay would show the foul, and by the time it had got back to the action we'd have given the ball away. In that heat and humidity, as well! If we could just replace those few players who love a long ball or who have to take at least four touches with the ball each time, we'd be a pretty good team.

... Having said that, it was encouraging. Great peformance...

I used to go out with an Italian girl and she used to give me loads of grief about us not having/using bidets. I have since either showered or washed my arse in the bath after a shit and we split up over a decade ago!
