Sadly I don't think either Phil or Jackie will start, probably Saka or Raz with mount, rice or hendo. Which also means no place for Bellingham.

We’ve consistently had one of the best defences. I don’t think it’s a bad defence at all. Stones and maguire have played really well in the last two tournaments.

Yeah the defence being “bad” is overblown a bit

I don’t think it’s bad per se, but I do think central defence is an area we lack depth in pure quality, except Stones. Maguire has done well for England, but it does say something for England’s (lack of) quality in that position when a guy who is fourth choice for his club is one of our better options

There’s always the worry that the Man Utd version turns up in a vital game and that’s not really what you want going into knockout football. I definitely think Stones alongside makes him a bit more comfortable though.

As for the keeper, I’ve no real problems with Pickford. Would I want him at city? No chance but he does a decent job for England. Let’s be honest, every keeper has mistakes in them. when watching England, he’s not the kind of keeper that has me on edge because you’re expecting a howler.

I do think we are overly critical of the England team sometimes though. Then you get people gushing, saying teams like Brazil have world class quality all over the pitch when in fact they have plenty of mid table and Europa league players.
