Yep, this would be my call too.
We should beat Uruguay with ease, as they were utter fucking gash against the might of Costa Rica.
If we don't, then there's no point in us being there to make up the numbers anyway.
Ingerland to win 2-0 for me, and Neville to put five million viewers into a collective induced coma with his aural Ovaltine.
Game is on itv

...in which case Clive 'That Night In Barcelona' Tyldesley and Andy 'Plastic Kent Paddy' Townsend can provide the Horlicks.

In a way I would love that team. I want Barkley and Chamberlain to be playing as they can not doubt make things happen.

I'm just not sure barkley has the defensive capabilities/discipline in that more defensive role- for me he needs to be played as a 10. There is obviously contention then around who plays 10 already, though.

I think the bigger question about 10 is actually Barkley or Rooney, not Sterling or Rooney. Sterling was quality there the other day, but I am confident he could be just as effective a little wider. Chamberlain, if fit, plays wide as it is clear Rooney can't, and despite the fact that Welbeck was OK the other night, Chamberlian is a lot more likely to make things happen.

I'd think about Wilshere next to Gerrard- despite being off form, I think he would be much more effective against a more open team like Uruguay than Henderson would.

Get Shaw in, he is a better left back than the over-rated Baines, also has the pace to get up and down.

-----------------------Hart

Johnson---Cahill----Jagielka------Shaw

-------------Gerrard-----Wilshire-----------

Oxlaide---------Rooney----------Sterling

--------------------Sturridge-------------------

Welbeck did well the other night but offers nothing apart from pace and his pressing ability

Now is the time to look at players who can win us a game, hence the front 4 ive gone for

Surely it's time to try Phil Jones at RB. ALright lads, stop laughing. I'm serious he can't be any worse than Johnson.
Who for me is the most woeful fucking excuse of a footballer, in the whole competition.

Took on Uruguay for my world cup winners at 28-1. I need the points here , nothing personal against Liverpool and rag players you understand.

Ruhead won't score and England won't win and they will be on the plane home. But in my heart rughead will play shite, get subbed and replaced with Barkley who will hit a worldy and play a blinder preventing rughead from playing the rest of the tournament and of course England go on to win.

Tyldesley and Townsend are so bad and biased I always end up sort of rooting for the opposition, and their pro rag/Liverpool agenda. I think Uruguay will be harder than people expect, despite how bad they were vs Costa Rica.

I'm amazed so many of you are putting Gerrard in a midfield 2. I don't think he has the legs for it at all especially in these conditions. The way Italy passed him by was downright shocking. We don't have anyone superhuman like Fernandinho to put next to him so I'd be much more tempted to play him in a 3.
