England vs Nigeria - Sat 2nd June

I just pray that come the tournament, Henderson is nowhere near the starting line up. I’d tolerate Lingard ahead of him. Dier seems to be the choice for the holding role but I’d like to see Loftus-Cheek there. He’s a big lad who can play. Dier is pretty shit.

Lingard is better than Henderson. Don’t get Dier though, bang average.

I almost always look at the England squad before any major tournament and think: "He shouldn't be there, he shouldn't be there, and that cûnt should never be allowed anywhere near the squad". And once again I feel the same way looking at Southgate's chosen few for Russia. Henderson is not international quality, never has been. Had he been at Leicester or Stoke or West Ham there's no way he would have been on the plane. The same can be said for that diving shithouse Ashley (whatever-happened-to-my-left-foot)Daley.

Dier will be the first to admit hes not the most talented player going but he has a lot going for him. He learnt a lot growing up in Portugal, a much different training regime to the old gung ho English approach. He learnt a lot off the ball there, hence why hes good at finding space.

He pretty much can play right back, centre back or a holding midfield role. Hes done them all to a decent standard at Spurs. Hes partnered the likes of Vertonghen at the back and Dembele in front of the defence too. He can pretty much do everything to good standard and hes not afraid to get a bit dirty either. He has got a decent free kick on him too but you will never see that at Spurs because of Eriksen and hopefully Southgate doesn't give them to Kane either.

There are 4 players who could do some damage for me. Kane, Sterling, Alli and Vardy, but the way England play I cant see them replicating what they do in the domestic game, but I'm sure the first 3 will get it in the neck if we have an abysmal campaign.

Finally watched the highlights of this. Same old Sterling really. Incredible movement but not quite got the finishing when he gets into a great position.

Also how small time is that booing of Dele Alli. He's born and bred and played all of his football in England. What made them think he'd play for Nigeria? It's doubly stupid when they've got Victor Moses in their team. A player that played for England at every youth level going.

Agreed. Let's be honest, that's why Delph's in the team too. In a tournament, it's good to have some players that can do a job in a number of positions. No idea why he's gone with 3 right backs though.
